    Default Mystery Ink #42, #43 and #44. --- YES, 3 Inks!!!

My, has it been 3 months already since I last sent out ink flights? I guess the old saying is true: Time flies like an Arrow. Fruit flies like Bananas. And so far, unfortunately, the Year of the Water Tiger is living up to it's reputation as a violent year. And we still have 8 months to go until the next year cycle starts...

Anyways, Mystery Ink is now open to FPG veterans, n00bs, newbies, and lurkers. You volunteer, I send free ink, you write with it and post your thoughts and observations. Guessing is welcome, but not required. There is nothing to "win" aside from perhaps personal satisfaction that you recognized it.

No guess is confirmed until the Mystery ink is finally revealed. The point of the mystery ink threads is an unbiased review. Fear not about the quality of your handwriting or sketching abilities. We don't care. We are all appreciative of those with the gift of artistic ability, but how well you draw or write doesn't impact your ability to test an ink and provide your opinion on it.

I will act as the Procurer, Packer, and Post Office Porter. This ink flight will consist of 1 packet containing 3 inks, each vial filled with 3mls of Mystery Ink labeled MI-42, MI-43, and MI-44. There will be 9 packets available and only 2 of the packets will be for overseas participants due to the high cost of international postage ( US$17.85/each ). If you are international, please let me know. If there are more sign-ups for overseas participants than slots, then I will run a Random Number Generator to pick. As per past tradition, if you are brand new to Mystery Ink you will have a Priority Spot!

The inks in this ink flight are dye based, not pigmented, no shimmer and not iron gall. I don’t use any of the Noodler’s Bay State inks, so there won’t be any in the ink flights I send out.

Post below if you would like to volunteer to receive a free ink flight. I will leave this open until 12 Noon PST Friday May 20th.

Note: Packets sent to the UK generally arrive within 10 working days. To the EU it may take much longer.

Covid-19 Precautions -- I am now fully inoculated and boosted ( 4 shots ), but for everyone's safety ink samples will be prepared using an N-95 face mask and gloves. Ink Packets will be put together with an N-95 face mask and freshly washed hands. ( Sorry, but it's impossible to use sticky tape with gloves on... )

Until then, please stay Safe and Healthy!

Thank you jj. Please ditto me for mreeveshp and Wile E Coyote as I'm international please. In the event that both internationals end up as UK members I'm happy to accept both sets and post on the other set if you can mail 6 sample vials for the same USPS price.

I'd love to do this. I'm based in Australia, don't know if that's too costly?

Jaguarish, Please PM me your name and address. Shipping cost shouldn't be a problem thanks to a generous contribution from fpg member DrPenfection. Many thank-you's, DrPenfection!!!

All US and International Ink Flights have been posted with the Owls and are on their way. Tracking numbers have been PM'd to the participants.

Unfortunately, Jaguarish has not replied to my requests for their name and address so they won't be participating in this round. My apologies.

Enjoy, and stay Safe and Healthy!

    All the Best.

    Important Update!

I just received word from one of the participants that one of the vials leaked and it may be due to the threading in the cap (coarse vs fine). All of the sample vials I use for Mystery Inks are brand new and I ran out of some of the previous batch from Vanness, which never leaked. The newer replacement vials are slightly smaller in height, with a coarser thread. The caps may have gotten mixed up on some of the vials since they look almost identical. The samples are packed in a ziplock, so please be careful opening the bag, and let me know if you have a "leaker".

Again, my apologies about the boo-boo.

    All the Best.

Does that mean the owls have started landing?

Maybe carrier pigeons would have been gentler with the new vials.

    That's a shame. Hopefully it's just a one-off. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

An interesting location you have there??

I'm surprised one already arrived, must have been close, mine still shows status not available. Hopefully everybody else gets theirs without leaks and it was just a one off.

My package had made it to LA International airport when I last received an update. Fingers crossed they actually put it on a plane there this time. Last time it seemed to go back to Carson City. Maybe it had missed some of the sights that it needed to check out before leaving the US?
