    Interesting prices...

Back in 2011/2012 when I was getting into this, most of the big name staple inks(Pelikan, Waterman, Lamy, etc) were well under $10 for their standard 50-60mL bottles. I even had trouble jumping to my first bottle of Noodlers at $12.50 even though it was 1.5x the amount of most other bottles. A local store sold Private Reserve, and their I think $7 or $8 was a lot more palatable.

What I wouldn't give for some of those prices now-Montblanc standard was around $16 and IIRC the then-new Edelstein was around $18. The latter was unfathomable to me, although a local shop finally worked enough sales and discounts together than I was able to get a bottle(of sapphire) for $13 or so.

When I was in high school Sheaffer ink was twenty-five cents a bottle.

I don't think it can be said more succinctly than that.
