A few months ago, I bought a Leonardo Furore. The clip came loose, so I returned it to the retailer for a Momento Zero. The nib tines on it were pressed together so tightly that the pen wouldn't write, and I could not get the tines separated. I asked for, and was given a replacement nib. It had a similar issue, but not as bad, and I was able to get that nib to work. Then, a plastic ring at the bottom of the cap developed a crack, so I asked Leonardo for a replacement. I received a nasty email in response, claiming that I had damaged the pen - I hadn't. They refused to send a replacement cap. Fortunately, the retailer that sold me the pen took care of the issue for me.
I've been using fountain pens for decades, and chalked these issues up to bad luck, and didn't blame Leonardo. It happens. However, receiving a nasty email, and refusing to back their product is not acceptable.
I also own a TWSBI. I once stained the finial, and asked for a replacement. Philip send me one for $3, including shipping. Recently, a small piece of the rose gold plating on the cap flaked off. Philip sent me a new cap for $6. He was polite, and took care of the issues fairly and quickly, as he always has.
Now, when I go to buy another fountain pen, guess which company will get my business...
I just thought everyone would want to know.
