    Maybe it isn't vulgar enough?

M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
    A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
    A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
    A: Yes it is!
    M: No it isn't!

Sorry to be a thick d.ick but I don't get the 'tea cakes' comment, can someone explain please?

I know what a teacake is in terms of confectionary, a half sphere 2 inch diameter cake with a crumb base filled with marshmallow and covered in chocolate but used in this context I feel like I am missing out on a good joke, just like not being able to get in to FPN.

I took it to mean a reaction similar to when one would refer to a person "clutching their pearls" - i.e. being offended over the slightest little thing, needlessly. It that isn't the intent, I'd be curious as well.

    Thanks Jon, that makes sense.

This has been checked already thanks Christof, found out just this morning I am marked down as Away.

OK. I must have missed that.

That would annoy me. I am not often on FPN, but visit the LAMY or Pelikan subforum from time to time. Interesting posts have become rare, but still...

Did that just happen without any contact from anyone?

More or less, there certainly wasn't a contact in the sense of 'because you have done x we are going to restrict you or ban you'. There was a grey box warning in relation to a thread which it was thought was too gender specific (it was about accessories for men) and another which was innocent enough but someone made a racist comment six pages in, I asked for its removal and it was removed but I was critiqued for starting a threat which some nutcase could add a racist comment. I complained to Wim, heard nothing back. For many months, perhaps a year, I couldn't even read posts. For the past month or so I can read the posts but cannot sign in even with a new password. I am given the message, 'did not pass the security test'.

Actually, and I do appreciate the offers of assistance, I am past caring. There was a time when the forum was bright and interesting but that ship has sailed along with many experts and knowledgable people.

    Thank you for your time.

That's too bad, RJ. And yes, traffic there has certainly declined since the sale forum closed.

When Deb was banned - I think that was in 2014 - there was no communication, she just couldn't log in. There was something of a mass banning at that time when Wim threw his toys out of the pram. I've never been banned. I just had enough of the Wim-ego and didn't go back. By that time the quality of the discussion had declined as most of the real experts had been kicked out. FPN had the potential to be great but Wim ensured that it never was.

To be given the keys to the biggest pen site with the potential to be a world class resource and then alienate the best people in terms of knowledge and experience is just a shameful act, I would be embarrassed.

The ultimate joke was to start charging people to come and see the empty rooms.

Since you as the OP expanded the discussion, I allow myself to interject that FPN is still a quite impressive database.

It is true that in the last few years the number of valuable contributions has declined sharply. But all the articles already written are still there. And I also see a similar trend in the other forums I visit.

Not many people today take the time to prepare interesting content to share it. This change in behavior certainly has more complex causes than just the mismanagement of FPN.
