Default Name of yellow Montblanc ink

I’ve had a bottle of yellow ink from the Montblanc boutique for over a decade. I’d take a photo but I’m not at home.

The bottle has no label and is one of those ribbed 30ml cube bottles, topped with the same cap used on the 60ml bottles. It was sold separately in its own box (long gone) and not connected with a special edition pen. BUT I remember being told that it is the same ink as the then-just-withdrawn Ghandi pen’s Saffron ink, but given a different name.

Anyone know what that ink’s name was/is?

Montblanc Ink of Joy, I think.

    Some confirmation of that here.

Thank you, Jon! The article even references the connection to the Ghandi Saffron ink!

Alas, I was hoping to call it a color. Do I type, "It's not yellow; it's joy"?

Fred, I thought the Mb yellow you had was Golden Yellow. The one you used to make Racing Green with is Golden Yellow. If my memory serves me well Ink of Joy is more orange than Golden Yellow.

Based on my recall of the connection between Ghandi Saffron and this bottle, it must be Ink of Joy and not Golden Yellow. Therefore, I have been exposed! Joy is what I used to make faux Racing Green. See next post.

Is/was MB Golden Yellow one of their standard inks, typically offered in the old 50ml or new 60ml bottles? Edited to add: I just found Golden Yellow on Amazon in the ribbed 30ml bottle.

Top photo is my "yellow" (joyful?) ink. Bottom photo from eBay. I suspect no matter what I was told at the boutique, my ink is simply golden and has no joy. Fine by me.

IMHO Montblanc Ink of Joy looks more orange than Montblanc Golden Yellow. I wish I could get a sample of Ink of Joy and Gandhi to compare them but I no longer have either of those. if I was going to guess I would suggest from memory only Gandhi was more yellow than Ink of Joy. Chroma testing would confirm the difference. I will have a look through my old chrome tests and see what I have.

I did a Google search for Ink of Joy and this FPN link came up.

This color gives me no joy.

    I dub it "Montblanc Misnomer"

It's hard to tell from the color of the ink in the bottle. I used what I have in my comparison to Mystery Ink No. 44, and it leads me to believe mine is Golden Yellow. I'm not going to buy more yellow ink to find out!

    Fred,

    I do have Golden Yellow.

The next time I buy something from you(there will be a next time!) if you want to toss a swab or writing sample of what you have in the box, I'm happy to stick some golden yellow next to it on the same page/card and see how they compare.

Alternatively, I'd be more than happy to send you a vial of golden yellow.

BTW, too lazy to walk upstairs now and check but I'm pretty sure mine is a 30mL bottle. The photo looks like 30mL also-the 50mL cubes have the same size cap, but naturally it covers less of the top of the bottle(if that make sense).

As Fred showed. Golden Yellow in the small square bottle. Mine has a date of June 21, don't know if that is made or expiration date.

My wife won something at a live auction, so dropped by my B&M to do me a favor, the yellow, orange and Miles Davis. Davis was not world shaking, Orange lacks something and I'd never bought the yellow....in I don't have papers to use yellow on.
