Default Parker 45 - steel nib vs. gold nib

I recently acquired a Parker 45 with a gold nib. The nib does not fit the feed properly and the collar will not cover the feed as it should. In the attached photo it is evident there is a difference in the shape of the alignment notches between the steel and gold nib. Were the feeds configured differently for the steel and gold nibs? Any information would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    NK

I have quite a few Parker 45's and all of them have gold nibs. My go to reference for Parker 45 nibs is here and for Parker 45 pens generally is here
