It's an interesting article. Thanks for the link.
Personally, when asked to pick a generally "favorite" color, (rather than selecting a color for a particular item) I've never known how to answer. The idea of having an overall favorite has never made sense to me. But it is asked so often that it must make sense to many people, perhaps most.

My favorite answer to the question is one I read somewhere: "I don't have a favorite color because I'm not 5 any more."
The real question is favorite for what?
I love forest green, but black for cars, navy clothes, natural wood colors for furnishings... etc. Ink: Blue-Black all day long.

Noodler's Eye Searing Blue (aka BSB) or Penman Sapphire Blue, which is marginally less eye searing.
Basically any blue with the potential to melt a fountain pen into oblivion.

Good point. Then too, cultural influences (briefly mentioned in the article) can't be ignored. Even small children are subject. Ask any five-year old Anglo-ethnic girl what her favourite colour is, and odds are she'll say pink. Five-year old Anglo-ethnic boys will almost invariably say blue.

I like yellow and green and red-ish colours. Amongst these three I'd go for yellow. a nice yellow Porsche Boxster GTS, please

data from article/other sources indicate adult organics exhibit preference in colours
preference may be contextual
adult organics may be unaware of preference
My clothes closet has more blue shirts than any other color family. My car is blue, but red is a favorite color too. Has been since I was 12. And yes, I have owned at least one red car.
Inks? That's a bit more complex. Currently of ten pens inked are the following
2 turquoise inks (Levenger Blue Bahama and Lamy Turquoise)
3 greens - KWZI Pine Green, Lamy Petrol, Edelstein Olivine
2 reds - Diamine Merlot and Levenger Pomegranate
1 each of blue (Edelstein Sapphire), purple (Levenger Amethyst) and blue black (Pelikan 4001 Blue Black)
Inks almost always in a pen?
Pelikan Blue Black
Levenger Amethyst
Diamine Merlot
What does it mean? Who knows.

I'd say "sky."
Which of course can be any number of colors, which is why I love it.
My second favorite is "water."

Well, my last 4 out of 5 pens are various shades of blue from the lightest of pastels to cobalt and that has been the color that has attracted me since my earliest memories. Red and pink used to make me violently angry as a child, it was a synesthesia of sorts. I have mellowed and even own some red pens, ink, and clothes (no pink, never that unless it’s an accent color, despite having grown up in the US, where’s pink is pushed on every girl child) now. My favorite inks are teal or peacock blue variants, Sheaffer’s old peacock blue the big favorite.
The mention of synesthesia made me recall that when I play a musical instrument with my eyes closed, I see patterns of color.
Seems like associating musical tones with colors is fairly common.
