Confession, whoever I find a ballpoint with a removal screw on cap, such as the Sheaffer no nonesense bp I put it to one side to keep, I know other people, Fp people at that, who collect certain Sheaffer ball points, I think he calls them clickies, might be wrong. The clip controls the point retraction.

Also another man who has written books on fountain pens but only uses ball points.

    Funny world.

To remind you that the point was still exposed as it clipped onto your jacket or shirt pocket, makes sense.

The best ideas are all from the past.

I remember when I first used B.Point I did not like them. I was told they make your hand writing bad.
So I was avoiding to use them whenever I could. But me writing was very average and legible.

I may have mentioned this story before years ago but when I first went to senior school I wasn't made aware that we had to write only with fountain pens because I had been ending a holiday as school started. My father was a coal miner who could only have a specific holiday week so it wasn't like we had a choice.

Therefore on that first evening of my first school day I wrote out my French homework with ballpoint pen and handed it in next morning.

On the very next French lesson the first thing the French teacher did was to call out my name and make me stand up while she tore me off a strip for writing my homework with a ballpoint pen then told me to do it again properly and never write in my books in ballpoint again. I definitely remembered..

I've now edited my post to correct capitalised French. Don't know why I got that wrong.
Absolutely not. French was always my best subject. The teacher was a bit of a madame though. LOL

No she just behaved like a right madame. Always a tough teacher, but she got me a grade 1 so I can't complain.

I know I've posted this before, but I'm just not a ballpoint guy (to the point where I have a fave or goto pen...):

This was one of my dad's Jotters, which I found in his workshop when cleaning up after he passed. It is posed with a collage photo I did of he and I and my grandfather. He was not a big writer, but he had a great appreciation for a tool that had been well-designed and implemented. I wish I could still talk with him.

and that when Truth and Error have fair Play, the former is always an overmatch for the latter."

Thank you for sharing that touching story, Jon.

Thank you, Yazeh, for the kind words. I talk TO him often, I just wish I could talk WITH him… as in “Dad, which of these goddamned pipe wrenches should I use on the faucet???”
