Re: Wahl Sub-brands (?)
If Wahl, were they trying to siphon off Waterman customers with that lever design, lever box and clip (albeit screwed-on, not riveted)?

Re: Wahl Sub-brands (?)
We had a Mayfair some years ago. It was identical to yours, even to the warranted 18ct broad nib. The search box in our blog will lead you to it. I'd like to see more evidence that it is a Wahl pen. It doesn't look like one to me. A warranted 18ct nib, if it is original, suggests a British pen made for the French market.

Re: Wahl Sub-brands (?)
Indeed , and I put that one up on your site !! I only just came across the snippet that said Mayfair was a Wahl sub brand .
And ….since that was the only (!) ever piece of anything even close to ….evidence, albeit thin , I thought I’d throw it up here and see what reaction it got.
It is a very high quality pen, in every respect, and it is slightly unlikely that as a sub brand Wahl would put out such a magnificent pen that was so markedly different to the ones they had in production……
The hunt goes on

Re: Wahl Sub-brands (?)
I have examples of the sub-brands listed in the snippet, with the exception of the "Mayfair". All of mine are clearly based on Wahl flat tops, both rubber and celluloid. I also have a "Hycrest", which is based on a celluloid Gold Seal. Very similar to the Oxford (not to be confused with the Wahl-Oxford). The pen shown looks nothing like something Wahl would have made, and since the snippet does not illustrate one, I suspect the author was in error to include Mayfair in his list.
Nice looking pen, all the same.

Re: Wahl Sub-brands (?)
I gotta agree , it was a super long shot ….grasping at straws if you like. It’s possible there’s another 'mayfair' that Wahl had, or as you say the original author was mistaken…..
But yeah , it’s a very nice pen 👍🏻
