Default using a 1.5 stub as a daily writer??

Has anyone done this? I'm about to order a Lamy all-star with a 1.5 stub and thinking of trying this out as a daily writer. I already use a 1.1 TWSBI mini and am comfortable with that as a daily writer. I want to try something different in each of my new pen purchases, hence a step up to a 1.5.

Would this be too fat? My writing is about 3.5 to 4 mm tall (not including the higher or lower portion letters such as d's b's, p's k's etc). I have an OB that I also use as a daily writer too and I can write comfortably with my handwriting size.

I think that you may find your letters closing up with the 1.5 nib unless you increase the size of your writing. I use broad wet stubs and italics as my everyday writers using 8mm rules paper, and I find that the 1.5 Lamy nib is great for use with a different colour to emphasise, but I wouldn't use it as my everyday writer.

But this is just my personal opinion, what matters is how you feel when you have tried if.

This last couple of weeks, I've been using a 1.5 Lamy Nexx in my rotation, because I like how some of the Diamine reds look in a really fat nib.

All I do is size up my letters somewhat.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

yes, my initial thoughts too about upsizing. I did see lots of on-line writing samples of 1.1, 1.5, B, BB and so forth, and on the first impression, it looks doable with my handwriting size, but realized that most of the on line samples had no scale to show the actual size of the handwriting.

The size of my writing pretty much adapts to the nib. I use mostly stubs, italics, and the like and find 1mm to 1.5 to be very useabke for everyday.

As a daily writer, 1.5 is too wide for me. However, I enjoy the TWSBI and Lamy 1.1 nibs, and vintage Pelikan OB and OBB nibs. YMMV. A good thing about Lamy is that for $10 you can get a different nib if you find the 1.5 too wide.

Nope, not too fat. I will second Tandaina here, I have three stubs in my daily carry (1.3, 1.1. 1.5) and they are used regularly. I just adapt accordingly. I like my meeting notes to look different so you can easily tell where one meeting stopped and the other one began. Add colors of ink to that and it makes the whole day better. I carry mostly medium, but also have a fine for emphasis in the other direction. I say experiment and you'll likely find you enjoy the variety.

My "idea notebook" for my novel writing sees lots of inks. Every time I enter a new idea that is unrelated to the previous entry, I change colors.

Just lately, I've had a Noodler's Konrad with a 1.5mm Goulet nib to use. I found it attractive, but I have to be careful to write with large loops or else they close up. Since I lean toward being a small writer, this is a bit awkward. It looks nice, but I prefer a fine or extra-fine nib.

I can only use up to a 1.1 mm. I do have one 1.5 mm italic and I have used it a couple of times. I have another that I really don't know what size it is. I would guess it is close to 1.5 mm. It was a self made italic as I was attempting to salvage a nib that came to me damaged. The inner portion of the tine looked to have been chipped while someone attempted to possibly adjust tine spacing with something like an exact-o knife.

Be sure to have more paper on hand.
