I have to sniff the bottle to smell them, I barely notice it when I have it open on the desk (I have a decent sense of smell, not 'super'). I can smell it on the nibs of the pens, Elderberries more than Plum (ended up with a blue-green nose, ahem). It doesn't last on paper that I notice. I tested it on my dog, she didn't like the bottle or the pen (Elderberries), and didn't care about the paper with writing. (I didn't torture her, only let her smell it, and with the first two, she turned away. With the writing, she stayed and gave me a 'so where is my cookie?' look.)
The Plum smells sweet and juicy and plum-y. I don't know if I know the actual smell of Elderberries, but the ink smells a bit like... old ladies. Not very disturbing to me, mostly reminds me of 'clean'. It does some flower-y, so I hope like elderflowers.
I bought them both because I like the colours and knew from samples that the scent doesn't overwhelm me.
