Why don't I have clear preferences?

I cannot tell why you are having trouble with preferences, but I can tell you how I make mine.

3. I prefer a cartridge converter fill system. I currently have no other kind. I like the cartridge converter because I change inks frequently--after every two or three fillings it's time for a different color.
4. For everyday use I like a medium width #6 nib. Easily replace #6 nibs because #6 replacement nibs are easy to come by.
5. I prefer a screw cap to a snap cap.
6. So far, the most I've ever payed for a pen was $250. I always buy a good-looking pen. Inexpensive doesn't mean it has to look like a Bic.

These all describe me. Maybe I have some preferences after all... I came into his thread because I could identify with the title

Sailor is one of those brands that tends to suck people in.
Not a bad thing, they make excellent pens.

I've never tried one either. And I have been worried that I'll be sucked in by that beutiful-looking nib experience! I feel the same about the big Pelikan nibs...

Big fan here. I have, oh, a half-dozen Sailors, mostly the Sapporo model, but also a couple of 1911. You have to like the Sailor feedback, though.

The King of Pen is a bit longer than the Mont Blanc 149. I I don’t know if it’s as chonky.
