    Default Asian Specific Forums?

I have been MIA for a while and coming back I saw the forum listing and a thought that had been with me in the past resurfaced. Not sure if this subject has been broached in the past. Every time I see the sub-forum, Asian Pens I think to myself, pens coming from Japan are vastly different than the pens coming from China. Wouldn't it be better to have a sub-forum, Japanese pens and another sub-forum, Chinese pens? Just an internal thought but it makes sense to me.

What about the other Asian countries?

I suspect other Asian countries have a small industry of pen makers but Japan and China are definitely the two countries with a significant pen industry.

Where are TWSBI and OPUS88 from? How about all the Indian pen brands?

Indeed. The “Mr. Cypress” brand from Taiwan is also producing a lot of significant pen models.

Whether or not it makes sense, the owner of FPGeeks makes no changes. Status quo remains the rule.

This sounds like you're talking about "The Mighty Oz".

No big deal if it goes one way or the other. It was just a thought.

Opus 88, Penlux, TWSBI, Ystudio, and Mr Cypress are all Taiwanese brands. My Taiwanese friends say there is an extensive pen culture in Taiwan, with many stationers and pen shops devoted not only to local brands, but also offering a wide range of writing instruments, inks, & stationery from Asia and the rest of the world.

... and there's not much activity in this forum in its current form, so I, for one, would be happy to see more brand-specific threads/posts!

I had a similar thought, but for Japanese brands like Pilot/Namiki, Platinum/Nakaya, and Sailor. I think pens from those manufacturers are arguably the best fountain pens being made these days.

That extensive pen culture includes some interesting inks that are made only for their market. I don't see much mention of Regal these days either. They have been making some really nice pens in Taiwan since 197x. I have one here in use on my desk right now.
