MONTBLANC 2016 William Shakespeare Writers Limited Edition 1597 Fountain Pen

The William Shakespeare Limited Edition 1597 is an edition of 1597 pens in reference to the year The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet was first published.

The body of this luxurious writing instrument with its octagonal design is inspired by the Globe Theatre.
The cap is octagonal too and finishes in a cap top shaped like the ringed roof of the theatre.
In the center the deeply set white MB emblem crowns this Edition.

The clip ring recalls the golden earring Shakespeare wore in the most famous portrait of him, the Chandos portrait.

The multi-colored barrel features guilloche patterns that evoke a quill, as Shakespeare might have used to pen his works. This pattern is overlaid with lacquer, as is the adjacent complementary pattern enrobed in blue.

These facets are in turn separated by a gold ring with embossed symbols reminiscent of Shakespeare’s career.
A rose and dagger stand for Romeo and Juliet, a skull for Hamlet, two chess pieces for King Lear, a crest for Henry V, a Moorish-inspired pattern including a sworld for Othello, a crown for Macbeth, a swirling cloud for The Tempest and a laurel wreath in the form of a "C" for Julius Caesar.

A Tudor rose, in honor of Elizabeth I and her patronage of Shakespeare, embellishes the base of the pen.

The engraving on the handcrafted AU 750 gold nib of the William Shakespeare L.E. 1597 captures one of the most famous scenes ever performed : the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet.

This high-end pen comes Mint in sealed condition (unused) together with all original boxes and papers.
Namely: white outer cardboard box, illustrated outer box, book box (there is a tiny flaking from shelf wear), facsimile Shakespeare's signed deposition, booklet / certificate.

    Asking Price 12500 euros
