Apparently, there are a number of empty folders and classified documents that are missing.

    Why is this man smiling?

I'd think it's the obscene amount of petrodollars in the bank. Could also be he just got back from Epstein's island with Billy Boy.

Sorry Monty Python, but "now for something completely different". How about if Joe Biden just pardons Trump for taking classified documents. This is something NYT op-ed writer discussed this AM. Sounds interesting to me.

"Bret: A pardon does a few things. First, as you suggested, it denies Trump the martyr card. Second, it humiliates him and tacitly requires him to recognize Biden as the legitimate president. Third, it saves the Justice Department from a potentially very tricky prosecution that it very well might not be able to win. And finally, it returns the public’s gaze to the far more important issue, which is Trump’s culpability for Jan. 6, which has oddly fallen off the radar screen."

I'd not oppose that for one of his crimes, but for all of them?

    No way.

Can a blanket pardon be granted to a person who hasn't been formally charged with a crime? What happens if he murders his wife thereafter?

    Why is he smiling?

His thugs killed Khashoggi and hacked him to pieces.

He tossed hundreds, perhaps thousands of uppity women into prison.

And Trump sold him the blueprints for a nuke.

I thought I replied to this earlier, but guess I got distracted and didn't post it.

1 and 2 are pretty clever, mainly to avoid 3. Trump will beat the admin up with some silliness (maybe along the lines of "see, they had nothing and this was to save face..." or something). His troll game is exponentially greater than theirs. Trump would likely win the constitutional question (absolute authority to declassify) with the current makeup of the court.

The flaw in the argument is that it "returns the public's gaze to Jan 6..." That's not a winning strategy for Democrats, IMO; unless they are successful in some sort of conviction that prevents him from running. The only people paying attention to that are the people who would never vote for him anyway, and it plays to Trump's base.

Time to move this case along.

Court reverses "special master" for Mar-a-lago documents:

Trump's on a losing streak in the courts. It'll be interesting to see how the jury decides the NY corporate tax fraud case.

Two books came in that I had reserved, "Confidence Man" by Maggie Haberman and "Thank You for Your Servitude" by Mark Leibovich. Both books are hard to read, I mean that the information is so disturbing, and that Americans would ever knowingly vote or support this person. I can only think, they didn't know. Leibovich discusses how other Republicans came to lend support.

Ms Haberman gets into the Trump history as his neice, Mary Trump, did in "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man".

His readily available history of manipulation in New York City along with his father is disgusting. The problem in not just Trump, but the nature of that cities culture. Habberman is a NYC native.

He abandoned Cohn when Cohn contracted AIDS. He claimed to wear two condoms and washed his hands a lot. Perhaps is drank bleach and used horse wormer.

How is it that rural Americans and/or Evangelicals supported him? Or worse, claim that God anointed him?

DOJ loses to Trump in Federal Court

WashPost: U.S. judge won’t hold Trump’s office in contempt

A federal judge on Friday declined to hold former president Donald Trump’s office in contempt for not fully complying with a May subpoena to return all classified documents in his possession, according to people familiar with the proceedings.

U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell told Justice Department lawyers and Trump’s legal team to come to an agreement themselves over what actions or assurances by Trump’s office would satisfy the government, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sealed court proceedings.

“The President and his counsel will continue to be transparent and cooperative,” Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement to The Washington Post.

A Justice Department spokesman declined to comment.
"A truth does not mind being questioned. A lie does not like being challenged."
