I am hoping he gets the nomination.

It will eliminate Trump and make it easier for an independent.

If we're dreaming, I'd rather have a centrist Republican (not sure thst they exist any more) win, so then I would mind so much who actually wins the presidency.

Not many centralists on either side. A true moderate would likely win regardless of party.

These days, moderates have trouble getting through the primaries.

DeSantis is an ill-tempered, vengeful thug. The only difference between him and Trump, is that his hair is real.

He and Trump have been trading jabs. Can't wait to watch that food fight.

    Trump has an advantage: ketchup.

I surely hope the hell not....another lying hate monger as President is not what the nation needs.
That 'age required' book Huck Finn, the slave thief runaway, should not be read by anyone not old enough to run for President.

Personally I found as a teenager at the end of B&W TV days, 'Catcher in the Rye', to be very boring and changed none of my political leanings. I was then a Goldwater boy.....now, even Goldwater is turning over in his grave at the dictatorship that looms.

It's not a political book. Not an iota. It's a book about a depressed, lonely, and lost teenager on the edge of a "nervous breakdown" or worse: suicide. His younger brother (whom Holden adored) died of leukemia four years earlier, and Holden has witnessed the suicide of another boy (bullied, and sexually abused) from a dorm window. Holden is just now kicked out of another school for failing grades (his depression is blocking his success) and not ready to face the anger and disappointment of his parents who clearly are still locked in grief over their dead child (whom Holden thinks they prefer over him, even though--or maybe because--Allie is dead).

Your teacher did a lousy job if you went through that story with boredom.

I read fast then at 400-450 words a minute by machine reading test back in the early '60's....so Homework I wrote between classes, and read 2-3 books a day. One had all that time in class also.
It probably wasn't discussed after all that was early '60's when it just got off the banned list.

Interesting legal rebuke to DeSantis in his own state:

DeSantis is more frightening than Trump. At least Trump is constantly mouthing off. DeSantis is sneaky.

I was reading an op-ed a week or so back, Florida, the article read, has many wealthy snowbird types and there is much poverty apparently, and affordable housing is a problem.

As opposed to Trump was the context of my post, if I recall. I've never been impressed. He reminds me of the Soup Nazi...LOL!!

DeSantis and how he uses institutional levers to reduce black voting and black voting power. This is how systemic racism works:
