Default Adhesive choice - cellulose acetate to polished stainless steel

I glued a cellulose acetate eyeglass frame to its polished stainless steel hinge using J-Weld epoxy for plastics. It came apart within weeks, and the epoxy easily peeled from both surfaces. Any advice for an alternative would be welcome. (A new pair is on the way, but I like to have back-up.)

It will be expensive but I think this is the best one you will find and it will last a very long time.
