I think it was Picasso who said that there are painters who turn the magnificent sun into a mere yellow spot,

When I saw the prompt, the refrain of this song popped into my head.

Which was rather odd, since I can't have heard it in many years, and didn't even recall who did it. Easy enough to find out, of course, and I'll put a link at the end.

But then, the way our memories throw out random associations is rather odd, particularly as one gets older.
