    Default Dramatically Bearing Witness

Although I'd bumped into Jan Karski's name before, as someone who brought news of the Holocaust to the West, I didn't appreciate all that he actually did.

The article linked, and the links in the article, gives a long, and ultimately sad, story of the West hearing and ignoring the Nazi genocide. Although the message was ignored I am in awe of the bravery of one man going into the ghetto and carrying that message to political leaders who just didn't care.

It's a long read, and ultimately a sad tale of speaking truth to power and meeting with silence.

    Thank you for posting.

One of my interests is in reading the testimony of those who were alive during the 1930s and their acceptance of what was happening in Germany, none more telling than Germans who later tried to justify their support of the Nazi regime

    A difficult read.

I watched all thriew interview clips, and also read the Mosaic piece. I'm kind of devastated.

Speaking truth to power and meeting with silence or worse is common.

Powers tend to self protect by firing or otherwise silencing the whistle blower.

Powers allow abuse and worse to exist. It’s nothing new regardless of the topic. It’s how sexual abuse with the Southern Baptists lasted.

I have to conclude, this is human nature.
