Default Omas 360 magnum nib collar repaired!

    Hi all,

Omas fountain pens have often a broken nib collar. The just break or degrade after time.
Omas does not supply these parts unfortunately so I had to find a other solution and repaired the collar in this Omas 360 magnum by making a new collar.

The pen is also cleaned, piston greased and writes flawlessly now!

    Nicely done.

I suspect that Omas was using Delrin, which while it is easy to machine, breaks down when exposed to acids in things like.... ink. Which is why I started making mine out of PEEK some time ago. Unaffected by most chemicals and very strong.

I'm assuming this type of repair needs a specialist lathe and is a very difficult job because threads that match the original need cutting onto the tiny piece of material after it has been made. Well done to both of you experts.
