"Noodler's Golden Brown" is one of the top special inks from the Noodler's and it is on my wait- list for sometimes. Sadly it is not available freely anywhere in UK.
If I get it is either from a EU country or USA. For that reason it is always on a waiting list. This ink is highly useful in drawing than writing. That's the reason it is very special.

IMG_0173.jpgThis is only my Brown collection....
I am attaching a family photo of my Brown ink collection. This is my collection based on my curiosity that got accumulated in few years. There are many many more in brown and they are wonderful.
For my knowledge no similarity in any two inks ( Examples in Brown colour ) has the same comparable characteristic in all the spectrums. Frankly in this brown inks world each ink differ from some spectrums of looks as Yellowish/golden/shinny/ reddish/ and many more nuanced or subtle differences. There are few inks here they not really Brown but they lean towards to brown and that's why I have mentioned about them.

    They are...., there are
    Higginns Sepia.
    Red dragon-Diamine
    Oxblood- Diamine
    Wine divine-Diamine

    Deep Dark orange-Diamine
    Mozart-Diamine
    Chocolate brown-Diamine
    Bach-Diamine
    Rohrer-klingner- Sepia
lie de Thé.. ( TEA sedamine ) -J herbin
    Perle noir- J Herbin

    Tobacco Sunset-Diamine
Absolute Brown- Waterman's (new labelled from Havana Brown )
    Aincent copper- Diamine
    Writer's blood- Diamine
    Golden Brown- Diamine
    Antiktusche - Rohrer-Klinger Calligraphy ink
    Smoky Quarts- Pelikan.
    Tobacco _Montblanc.
Sand Martin Brown-Mabie Todd black bird.
Honus Wagner infield Brown - Birmingham Pen co.
.....are the ones I have and like to add a quick photo here.

Actually Pure pens has it. It's lovely ink but suffers from long dry times.

Sorry I had made a mistake here. Thank you Fred ,,, mentioning that It Perl noir is pure black and nothing to do with BROWN MY APOLOGIES ..(I have this ink that's why it came to this )

Perl noir is replaced by Poussière de Lune ( Mean Moon Dust in French) J Herbin. It is violet/ lavender brown to me !!!

If you're looking for another brown, get a sample of Rome Burning. Amazing ink for washes...

    Thank you again @Yazeh!!!
I have seen that ink on many reviews and it quality. I am also interested in Noodler's Sepia ink too. The problem is Noodler's ink are very limited in Uk market.
    Cheers !!!!

For general writing, Rohrer & Klingner Sepia, which is actually more like a taupe (greyish brown) than a sepia. It's inexpensive, great performing, and has more of a soft feeling than most brown inks, if that kind of thing seems like it would appealing to you. If the R&K Sepia is difficult to obtain, Herbin Cacao du Bresil is similar - more expensive than the R&K but not expensive.

That said, if I were you & just starting out, and because it looks like you are in the US, I would go to the Vanness Pen Shop site and order a variety of brown samples of inks you think you might like. Your taste in color may not jibe with most and, undoubtedly, your taste will change over time. Vanness seems to have the largest selection with generously sized samples that are a great value. (I am not a shill for Vanness)

[EDIT: changed the Vanness link to limit to samples.]

So very very true! For example, I have a decade-old bottle of Visconti green on which I've stuck my own label that reads "Turquoise."

Browns are not my fave color even tho I have three - a Sailor renga that is a red leaning brown, Diamine chocolate that doesn't really have much depth to it, and an Athena sepia ink from Japan that is darker than the sepia color seen on old photos. It seems that any brown ink is going to sit on a spectrum of secondary color.

I am a fan of Sailor Jentle (now Shikiori) Doyou. It is pretty dark (with a brown/black/grey feel) and maybe not as water resistant as one might want for letter writing, but it flows nicely and feels rich and wet on the page.

I have a few brown inks. Graf von Faber-Castell - Hazelnut Brown is a great ink. I have never tried Toffee Brown yet though. I liked it better than Noodler's-Walnut.(I did enjoy it though) I also have Papier Plume-Pecan. It is a decent ink. J Herbin- Cacao du Bresil is an ink I have enjoyed samples of and will probably get one day. I have used cartridges of Kaweco-Caramel brown, with no complaints. There is a Kobe brown ink that I will eventually buy for sure. I also have a Franklin-Christoph brown ink in my collection, but they discontinued it. That is all I can think of in the brown category, and hope that helps someone.
