    Smile Paper storage?

Fred Ryder started an interesting thread on writing kits that got me thinking.

Journals, notebooks, loose paper, cards, stationery, whatever name for paper products you can think of… how do you store yours? Just looking for ideas and suggestions here. Do you keep them where they are used? Sorted by function? Other? Where, and how? Maybe there's a better, more efficent way for me.

(I also have a fair number of notebooks that DON'T take to fountain pens and tend to keep those for pencil and gel pen scribbles).

    Pictures welcome. Thanks.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Oh geez. How embarrassing. I am not proposing a solution to your storage dilemma.

My desk at home, in the left drawer and underneath. My carry kit leans against the desk leg. These are where my most immediate supply is.

A few feet away is the pen chest with lower drawers stuffed with stationary.

Then there's more in the bureau in the adjacent closet.
    IMG_5450.JPG

Unopened reams are shoved under the filing cabinet.

There's a pile on the nearby bookshelf. The black boxes are tightly packed full of unused old postcards for mailing.

And in the master bedroom, there's another desk and a cabinet dedicated to paper.

I should not even be looking at more stationary.

Fred's are more out of sight than mine... which are on shelves, and scattered wherever I might sit and NEED some paper.

Hmmm... maybe what I need is an idea for one place to keep 'excess' (ha!) and then to figure out how much ready-to-hand paper to keep in each writing spot.

Much of my loose paper/paper pads/spare journals/etc are on a shelf in the study. When I attend the Zoom meets for Space City Pen Club I try to ensure the bookshelves behind me look reasonably tidy. My envelopes are either in drawers in my desk or upstairs on a high shelf in the room where I do my ink reviews/pen filling and cleaning or quick repairs as I make quite a few envelopes myself.

Isn't it the case that paper ought to be stored under weight? Vaguely recall years ago visiting a papermill for watercolor paper and stacks were weighted down to prevent curling.

To be fair, Chrissy does pile it up.

It's certainly heavy enough when I need something from lower down in the stack.

    That is funny.

If memory serves the mill had some sort of press with giant screws to hold it all together, and I can see on Amazon that smaller versions are available to buy. Like this one Paper Press

I used a hyperlink because the address was very long. Is that ok?

    Paper should be retrievable.

Humidity is a big problem here in the South Carolina lowcountry, so I keep my paper in clear, plastic bins along with some dessicant packs. Each bin holds about a ream of paper.
