Default New member with Mont Blanc question

Hi, I’m a new member with a Mont Blanc fountain pen my wife found at a thrift store. Would you help me identify it? It is a piston-fill and I think it’s a 320 but the cap has a double band and all the 320’s I look up have a single cap band. Any help is appreciated.

How is the cap marked? Looks like a cap off something like a 220 to me.

The cap says Montblanc Germany. I think you’re right since the pen end has so symbol and the part above the nib doesn’t have the ‘v’ shape the 220 has.

YMMV, but the model # should be on that lower, widest cap band, between MONTBLANC & GERMANY.

I’ve looked at it with a loupe and there is no serial number.

I'm not an MB person so I can't address that issue. However...

Welcome to the Fountain Pen Geeks forums! Smaller than the largest pen fora, larger than some, you'll find a community of pen-centric people here, with a body of posts, reviews, and group knowledge. Mostly, you'll find people who are enthusiastic about fountain pens, and fountain pen people.

There were no serial numbers back then. One of the slim line series. Nice pens but not particularly expensive. That would have been a student pen at the time.

I never saw them as "student pens." My impression is Montblanc was branching into their new avant-garde designs with the 2xx and 3xx series pens, while meeting their competition. Compare the Aurora pens of the day. As we know now, their traditional design remains the most appreciated and keeps its value.

"I’ve looked at it with a loupe and there is no serial number."

A Serial # would identify an individual pen. I said Model #, not Serial #.

I have the apparent same pen, it shows the model # '221', stamped plainly into that lower, wider, beveled cap end ring, after the letter 'C' in MONTBLANC, & before the letter 'G' in GERMANY.
    eg: MONTBLANC 221 GERMANY
I have a photo showing it on both this and my Bordeaux version, but can't post it here as I have no image hosting service.
