Default First Platinum Pen, What Cartridge Does This Cutie Need?

So I ruined the best laid no spending, just enjoying current hoard plans when I took the offer on this adorable turquoise Platinum pen. I just bought it, so excuse the screenshots- the bay isn’t letting me copy the photos. I’m hoping that whatever it uses is still available.

I'm pretty certain all of these variations on their "long-short" pens, like the Elite line, use the standard Platinum cartridge. The problem comes with some of the shorter-barreled pens, into which converters won't fit. I have one that belonged to Susan Wirth, which she purchased from the Parker archives, when they had bought a number of Japanese pens (in the 60s or 70s, I think?) to check out the competition. Someone had done a bit of a hack job on the piston knob to shorten it to fit in the pen. But standard Plat carts should work.

Awesome, thank you for this information! I had this one on my watch list for a long time because I don’t have any experience with the brand, but it’s one of my favorite colors. I suppose I should stop by Kinokuniya soon then (my poor wallet). What I would give to have a pen that belonged to SW, or had been in the archives! That’s super rad!

Shamelessly borrowed from JetPens. They do get a lot of my money, so I don't feel too bad...

    Pretttyyyy!

I have two Platinum pocket pens. One takes the Plat carts, but the other... either someone messed with it beforehand, or a part was wrong/missing, but nothing fit the eeny little barrel length.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Oh no, Sailor Kenshin-san, I hope that mine is the former and not the latter! dneal, that’s super handy- thanks (they get my $$ too)! Jon, that is lovely and gave a sense of nostalgia for a place I have never seen IRL, although I do frequent the PDX Japanese Garden.

Just an image I found to pair with the setup. I'm actually hoping to visit Japan this year for the first time.

No, I'm sure yours would be okay. It looks just like the coral one I got. My messed-up pocket pen was black, different from the coral, and showed signs of being 'worked on.'

Platinum cartridges are also very sturdy and refillable.

Oh, rad- I have come to like refilling cartridges- it’s one of the few rebellious things left for me to do! Is it ok to use the pigment inks in, or should I stick to any particular Platinum ink for safety’s sake?

I've used all those colors. The only one that was hard to handle was the light blue; vewy, vewy dwy.

That sounds like a good time! That would be the place where not only is there a pen for every person, but every pocket as well!

Go with the pink or violet to contrast with the body and get that 80’s neon Miami thing going on…

Platinum also make an adapter that allows standard international cartridges to be use. IIRC it cost about $1.

I have one like yours in black. I used a Platinum Carbon Black cartridge. I had forgotten about it for a month. Pulled it out and it was writing like a dream. Very well sealed! Great little pens, like the Pilot Elite!

I grew up in ‘80s Miami! It might be why teal is one of my favorite colors.
