Dare I use Noodler's Baystate Blue in my Pilot Custom 74? Love the ink love the pen I want to pair them, and I would not leave the ink in it too long. And would rinse thoroughly when finished.

Your pen, you take the risks. I think as long as you don't let it dry out in the pen and/or sit in the pen for weeks, and it will likely be ok. All the other caveats with this ink apply, too.
"When Men differ in Opinion, both Sides ought equally to have the Advantage of being heard by the Publick;
and that when Truth and Error have fair Play, the former is always an overmatch for the latter."

Rinse all you want. You will never remove all of the BSB from that pen. As long as you're comfortable with it becoming your BSB pen, you'll be fine.

Use it without fear. Just thoroughly wash your pen before switching inks and accept possibly having a stained converter. (Diluted bleach will quickly remove BSB but be careful around metal with bleach)

M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
A: Yes it is!
M: No it isn't!

Please be warned that if your Pilot Custom 74 is a demonstrator type the inside edge of your section will be stained BSB forever.
I find it impossible to completely clean out many inks in mine and have come to realise that I just have to accept the fact that the internal part of the grip end of the section holds onto whatever colour it was last filled with for a long time despite trying everything I can think of to clean it out.

NO! NO! DON'T DO IT! YOU'LL BE SORRY!
. . . just kidding! Follow the advice of those "in the know". I avoid BSB and other troublemakers.
Thanks for all the replies, everyone! I just love those colors so much that I have to take the chance. I will heed your advice about not using in a demonstrator and be diligent about cleaning. I got a bottle and then got scared. Onward!
I never ever ever ever ever ever ..... put BSB ink to any pen. Dip writing perhaps ..... This ink you must use only in a pen ( Charlie -Noodlers ) that comes free with a Noodles big bottle. It is a kind of a disposable pen.

I've used a very cheap Jinhao for Baystate Blue for several years. So long as the pen's used for that alone it doesn't cause any problems.

I have a dedicated pen for it. I have no problems. It is easily removable from many surfaces with alcohol based hand sanitizer. The alcohol dissolves the ink and the gel in the sanitizer stops it running away and holds it there long enough to dissolve the ink..

I use this ink in a thin consistency ( water dilution ) and add some drops of Chinese Summie ink to make a Blue black dip ink. So it is only usable that way for me for dip pens.

It is not a chemistry test??
But rather a simple dilution

Do it. The BSB blue can be removed with diluted bleach, and the Pilot 74 is easily disassembled for cleaning and soaking if needed.
