No, it's actually quite good. A little paler than it was in my Cross, but not much. Lubrication is about average right now, but we'll see how it goes as the week progresses and the feed stabilizes. I think all of you got bad vials of #48 and I got the good one.

I guess my Kakuna is very dry. I was comparing it with my Elite it's night and day, and I have been widening the tines ever so gently

    #50.
It took me a day to rinse my Kanwrite from 49. The nib unit housing is stuck in the section and I can't budge it. So ink lodges between them, quite annoying this pen.
#50 in general is dry, though light years better than 48. Though I enjoyed writing with it with a broad nib.
With Kanwrite, which is a very pen the writing experience is so so. Though with anyone with a soft touch this ink is fine.

This ink has both show through and bleed through with anything lesser than Rhodia. So it's not suitable for many cheap/absorbent paper, unless they're thick.
Dry time is relatively long, with anything above medium wet nib.

The color reminds me a lot of oil. So maybe it's Robert Oster Motor Oil

It (50) seems to be one of those elusive, what-color-is-it inks. I don't think I have anything similar, except...maybe....

    Well, that will come later.

Certainly all this EF-nib use has given me a super-light hand, and the pen is surely not as dry as it started - all the cleaning, the swapping of nib and feed between pen bodies, occasional flossing (though not with a thick brass sheet) to get glitter out...

Thank you for your #50 review. My Cross Wanderlust must be absurdly wet (I haven't used it enough or with enough inks to have a good feel for its attributes), because to me, #50 seems very wet.

Another good shot of #49 giving some beautiful sheen

I was just writing a note reminding me to look up some new inks coming out and happened to get this. I used the macro lens for the close up on each word and regular lens to capture it all.

Yep, Your cross must be super wet! My Preppy Ef and Elite are nice. Kakuna, not so. But I'm have to floss it a bit!

It is now time for the Mystery Inks reveal.

When I was at University, I was introduced to a wonderful novel called 'The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha'. His amazing adventures alongside his faithful companion Sancho Panza led me to later purchase the book for my collection, which I still have and read today. So when Wearingeul introduced their brand new ink "Miguel de Cervantes-Don Quixote", I had to purchase it even though there were no reviews of the ink available. Ink #48 is Wearingeul's Don Quixote.

    link: https://vanness1938.com/products/wearingeul-don-quixote

Mystery Ink #49 is a limited edition that comes in a big 110ml bottle. It is Private Reserve's "2 Minutes to Midnight Blue". The title refers to the Doomsday Clock which at the time the ink was produced was at 2 minutes to Midnight (Armageddon). It currently is now at 90 seconds to Midnight. This bottle is numbered 376/1100.

    link: https://vanness1938.com/products/pri...6c1ea0e0&_ss=c

Mystery Ink #50 is what I consider a chameleon ink; one that looks different depending on the nib size and papers used. It can appear almost black, brownish black, brownish grey, and greyish green. Sepia refers to the color of cuttlefish ink, which also changes color the longer it is exposed to air. Mystery Ink #50 is Rohrer & Klingner Sepia.

    link: https://vanness1938.com/products/rorher-klingner-sepia

I hope you all enjoyed this round of Mystery Inks. The next 3 inks have already been chosen for the next challenge in mid-May, the good Lord willing. Hopefully we'll have better luck with the leaking sample vial problem! (Maybe a wrapping of lab grade Parafilm on the vial threads?)

Thank-you all for participating, and special thanks again to DrPenfection. Her donation will roll into the next MI Challenge.

    All the Best.

Wow! This is fabulous. I think I may be enjoying the reveal as much as the inks. Thank you so much, James! Don Quixote looks much too pink in Vanness' picture (on my computer, anyway). The others are spot on. R&K Sepia was on my list to try, so thank you for taking it off my list! Now I can finish my prep for tomorrow's EFNIR recording of #48. I may have to switch the quote to something about windmills... And frankly, I just love the idea of writing with a doomsday ink (I just wish you'd had bottle #666 (<pretend like that's a devil) )!

ETA: I think this is my first Wearingeul ink!

I have plenty of sample vials that I'm sure could easily be cleaned and reused if you want them.

Thank you so much James for such a wonderful backstory and journey. I was so offtrack, ha ha! My first Wearingeul. Now I can start posting the reviews, before the Efnirs. I also enjoyed R&K sepia. I once nearly bought a bottle and am now I'm glad I didn't. So thank you so much!

Funny how the ink darkened in the feed but with a bit of priming the colour returned to normal...

Thanks. I've looked through them and other lists, and decided to keep the one I had, which goes well with the story. But yes, it's easy to understand. I can't remember if I read this - in Spanish, in college. It seems like I did, but I have a hard time remembering it like I would have had I read it in English.
