    Default Mystery Inks #48, #49, and #50 !!

Happy New Years to all! I am out of hospital after surgery on 11 January and slowly moving about at home. The surgeon says I'll be back to driving normally in a weeks time and DW (Dear Wife) has said she would drop the ink flights off at the Post Office if necessary. Due to the flooding and high winds here in California, the Owls have been grounded, so the ink packets may take a *bit* longer to reach you all by snail mail as that is the only thing running here.

That being said, Mystery Ink is now open to FPG veterans, n00bs, newbies, and lurkers. You volunteer, I send free ink, you write with it and post your thoughts and observations. Guessing is welcome, but not required. There is nothing to "win" aside from perhaps personal satisfaction that you recognized it.

No guess is confirmed until the Mystery ink is finally revealed. The point of the mystery ink threads is an unbiased review. Fear not about the quality of your handwriting or sketching abilities. We don't care. We are all appreciative of those with the gift of artistic ability, but how well you draw or write doesn't impact your ability to test an ink and provide your opinion on it.

I will act as the Procurer, Packer, and Post Office Porter. This ink flight will consist of 1 packet containing 3 inks, each vial filled with 3mls of Mystery Ink labeled MI-48, MI-49, and MI-50. There will be 9 packets available and only 3 of the packets will be for overseas participants due to the high cost of international postage ( US$18.90/each ). If you are international, please let me know. If there are more sign-ups for overseas participants than slots, then I will run a Random Number Generator to pick. As per past tradition, if you are brand new to Mystery Ink you will have a Priority Spot!

The inks in this ink flight are dye based, not pigmented, no shimmer and not iron gall. I don’t use any of the Noodler’s Bay State inks, so there won’t be any in the ink flights I send out.

Post below if you would like to volunteer to receive a free ink flight. I will leave this open until 12 Noon PST Saturday 21 January [ 2000hrs GMT ].

Note: Packets sent to the UK generally arrive within 10 working days. To the EU it may take much longer.

Covid-19 Precautions -- I am now fully inoculated and boosted ( 4 shots ), but for everyone's safety ink samples will be prepared using an N-95 face mask and gloves. Ink Packets will be put together with an N-95 face mask and freshly washed hands. ( Sorry, but it's impossible to use sticky tape with gloves on... )

Until then, please stay Safe and Healthy!

    All the Best.

Thanks to the very kind generosity of DrPenfection, we now have 3 international ink flight slots instead of 2. Thank-you very much DrPenfection!

@junglejim Royal Mail are not delaying packages or parcels. (They can't afford to lose such good contracts and they have nowhere to store them.) They are currently only delaying "normal" mail like letters and magazines. Despite sending out vehicles to deliver parcels and packets every day here our delivery office hasn't delivered any "normal" mail since January 4th so if anyone has written a letter or sent a Christmas card to me I might not have received it.

(@Fred In case you read this I received your card & letter on the same day last Wednesday January 4th.)

junglejim, I'm new to all this, but would love to participate. I'll ponder how to do Extra Fine Nib Ink Reviews without the ink name. Maybe release the images here first and the whole review after I learn the name? No worries, I'll figure it out! If there are rules, someone please let me know what they are.

Thanks, @Yazeh, for the "heads up".

@LizEF - junglejim has placed most of the rules in his OP. One more that he usually adds, and added for the last batch, is this one:

"*** Just as a kindly reminder, please do not post any reviews of your Mystery Inks until after the International Participants have received their Ink flights. Part of the fun of Mystery Inks is finding out what colors have arrived. Many Thanks! ***"

Depending on Royal Mail fingers crossed all will be well.

One of the participants has let me know there was a leak in one of the sample vials. Your ink packet contains 2 vials with WHITE caps ( MI-48 and MI-50) and one vial with a BLUE cap (MI-49). The BLUE cap vial had a small leak. Please be careful when opening your packet and let me know if any more BLUE cap vials had a leak. Those new sample vials were purchased and received in early January and I have a BIG bag of them.

    Many Thanks.
