Funny how the ink darkened in the feed but with a bit of priming the colour returned to normal...
I found the same thing - today when I started writing with the review pen, the ink seemed a lot darker and browner, but quickly thinned back out - I think it wasn't evaporation so much as feed saturation that quickly got used up since the ink is so dry...

Wow! I have ONE piece of purchased artwork in my house - A pen and ink drawing of Don Quixote tilting at windmills - and I must confess that the purchase of the drawing caused me to purchase the book and I am still reading and re-reading it. Perhaps one of the best stories ever! I thought the ink had a very "vintage" feel, but with this backstory, I really dig the vintage appearance. Glad I have it in a miserly, yet wet, Lamy 2000. I'll get a few more pages out of it.

But what this little foray into the mystery inks has done for me is it has helped me to get re-acquainted with some pens I have neglected and I have written more in my journals over the past few weeks than I have in months!

Thank you for allowing me to play along! This has been so fun for me!

@countrydirt, did the colour of your artwork correspond in anyway to the ink?

@junglejim, how did you find the Don Quixote ink? Was it a happy discovery, or not so?

I vaguely remember seeing about Wearingeul Inks in one of the email blurbs Dromgooles sends out. It was about the new Author Series (Bram Stoker, Shakespeare, etc.) and was about 2/3 of the way down in the email, along with lots of pens I wasn't interested in or couldn't afford. [ Now NEWER, BIGGER, PRETTIER and with a cap you can chew on that tastes like gummibears (Patent Pending).]

Thank you junglejim for the opportunity to try these very interesting inks and as always for your gracious generosity in hosting these mystery inks.

And now I have another book added to my list to read. MI 48 probably would have been my favorite if it wasn't quite as light, I can deal with a slightly drier ink but just wish it was more saturated but I got to try Wearingeuls which I had only heard about in a couple blogs. Then just a few weeks ago I saw a blog post about R&K sepia but seeing it in person was way off what I would have expected from the swabs on that post, either way a very interesting ink where at least for me I saw grey to brown to almost black.

    Thank you again junglejim

I did say I was leaving that out. You'll just have to wait until 18 April and read that part of the story when we get to it!

Thank you all for your fantastic evaluations of these three inks. I have enjoyed this thread immensely. Being a lifelong Cervantes fan, I enjoyed your critique of the Wearingui ink.

And thank you, junglejim, for hosting this great thread!

ps: let me know if you need more vials. I have over 100 of new ones that I have used and likely won't use anytime in the near future.

Thank-you for the very kind offer DrPenfection, but I now have another 10 packets of new sample vials from a different pen store.

    All the Best.
