    Cool Rohrer & Klingner Sepia

A great thanks @junglejim and @DrPenfection, for this mystery ink #50.

A no-nonsense ink from R&K, with excellent water resistance.
It’s not ink which encourages me to rhapsodize, searching for weird inky metaphors or rushing to order a bottle.
No, none of the above. but I was surprised how it grew on me with its simplicity, it’s water resistance and enjoyable tactile experience, each time the nib glided on the paper.

Often having finished an ink review, I cannot wait to flush out the old ink, and try a new one. But in this case, I’m stalling enjoying every drop of my sample. I would say, give it try, and you might be surprised.

    Check it's lovely chroma:

On this cheap paper, no ink can resist ghosting and bleeding. Sepia isn't an exception

Water resistance Note the first 3 lines were dry for at least a day. The smudged line for an hour

I often enjoy doing little sketches. This is one of my favorite birds, the mighty chickadee

Comparison I have nothing in this shade

    • Pens used: Pilot Kakuno (Ef/M/stub) Lamy Safari (Fine/ /Medium /Broad) / Kanwrite Ultraflex / Jinhao 450 fude
    • What I liked: I really enjoyed writing with this ink. It’s nice enough ink for sketching and had excellent water resistance and the price is ridiculously cheap.
    • What I didn’t liked: Nothing really.
    • Shading: From medium to broad
    • Ghosting: Yes, On cheap absorbent paper
    • Bleed through: Yes, with very absorbent papers.
    • Flow Rate: Good
    • Lubrication: Good.
    • Nib Dry-out: Not noticed.
    • Start-up: No problem.
    • Saturation: Dark.
    • Shading Potential:
    • Sheen: Not really.
    • Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: Not noticed
    • Nib Creep / “Crud”: No
    • Staining (pen): No
    • Clogging: No.
    • Cleaning: Easy.
    • Water resistance: Excellent
    • Availability: 50 ml bottles

Thanks, Yazeh, for another great review. Your bespectacled owl makes me smile. I'm looking forward to trying this in a pen that's not so wet! I expect I'll like it much better that way.

Thanks Liz! Gosh I must go back to the drawing board, if my chickadee looks like an owl

Very nice review, Yazeh. To my eye this appears to be a rich sepia that doesn't lean too much red. I may give it a try.

Ooops! Sorry. That's me not knowing birds all that well and just thinking a bird with spectacles must be an owl. Sorry.

Nice review, Yazeh. Thank you for taking time to do this. Not a color that really "wows" me though.

Most welcome! Indeed it's not a wow ink. It's the type that's worth a sample, and then it might grow on you

I kinda like it though, but then again, I love Sepia colored anything

Thanks for the review @Yazeh !

Much appreciated. What's missing is your elegant, minimalist sketches
