    Default Help Identifying Safety Filler!

    Hello,

I purchased this safety filler yesterday, and I'd like some help identifying the brand, model, etc.?

The only markings I could find where "Brilliant" on the cap, a square enclosed by a circle (I believe this is the brand logo), and "04 F" on the twist knob.

The pen also has a "Warranted" 14k nib. My google searches went nowhere, so I'd appreciate any info!

    Thanks!

Great find! You have a very early example of the company's use of that logo. I wouldn't be surprised if it originally was highlighted with white. Be careful of the mechanism, which will be brittle and irreplaceable without expensive fabrication out of hard rubber rod. You might consider bathing it in Mark Hoover's Deoxidizer followed by mineral oil.

Christof has posted pre-war examples of pens displaying the Osmia logo in white set against black:

Thanks for the info, I'm super happy to find this as it was only 20 bucks and I've wanted a safety filler for years (but wasn't willing to pay the high prices online)...

I've filled the pen, and it works quite nicely! It still needs some cleaning, and I need to find a way to seal the filling knob area as it leeks slightly. I've heard o-rings can work, but I may try silicone grease to prevent cracking the barrel.
