    Default Long Knife Nib

I received an e-mail from Etsy tempting to buy whatever. In the e-mail was a fountain pen described as having a long knife nib. I googled said nib and did not find anything describing a long knife nib. What exactly is a long knife nib? Thanks.

Dang. I can't recall the description but I've seen them and was tempted…I think Lamy now sells one. They are supposed to be for writing Chinese characters.

    ….and I still want one….
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Well, interesting discourse on Japanese vs Chinese. Nevertheless the key point of interest would be: what do these nibs write like? I bought one (HongDian N6) because for the low price I thought it was worth trying. I am very pleased with it and especially how my model is a piston feeder. The nib itself write smoothly and with a broad stroke on a narrow(ish) edge as if swiping with a miniature spade. It may feel similar to an architect nib to some users, but I detect a slight rounded edge to it rather than a straight edge.

It sounds strange. I've never heard it either.

Some users may find it reminiscent of an architect's nib, but I notice a slight curvature to it instead of a completely straight suika watermelon game edge.

A "long knife nib" is not a standard fountain pen nib type. It is likely a marketing term used by the Etsy seller to describe a nib that is longer than usual. Longer nibs can provide a smoother and more consistent writing experience, as they have more contact with the paper.
