    Cool De Atramentis Document Turquoise

This is the review of Document Turquoise, which will be soon followed by its Artist sibling. If you were to choose one for writing purposes, get a sample of this one.

I am not enamoured by this ink. I don't know if it's the colour, or it's behaviour, or simply it's lack of character. Or maybe I'm inky saturated
It is decent document ink, too wet with wet/wide nib combos. With fude (bent Chinese /Japanese nibs) it wrote like flip-flops on ice

Ink won't work with cheap/absorbent paper and it will feather and fly away.

Colour is slightly lighter than Artist Turquoise, and less wet.
Document and Artist inks can be mixed, so they are perfect for Artists or those who like to mix their own inks.
Document inks are slightly “more” archival than Artist inks, in my correspondence with De Atramentis.

I wasn't really inspired to do a sketch. This is done on a Canson watercolour paper. By wetting the paper with a brush adding ink, and removing extra colour with a paper towel....

    · Pens used: Pilot Kakuno (Ef /Stub) Lamy Safari (Ef/F/M/B) / Jinaho 450 with an Ultraflex nib/ and fude nib
    · What I liked: Writing with a broad nib only. I was taking notes and had my pen uncapped for 5 minutes, no dry outs. Very fast dry time on coated paper, especially with Fine nibs. It’s good for dry pens.
    · What I did not like: Very wet, no character.
    · Shading: none
    · Ghosting: This ink is best for coated paper, with Ef – Broad nibs and dry pens. Don't use it with ebonite feed.
    · Bleed through: Same as above.
    · Flow Rate: Very wet
    · Lubrication: Excellent
    · Nib Dry-out: None.
    · Start-up: None.
    · Saturation: Eh
    · Shading Potential: None
    · Sheen: None.
    · Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: With a primed nib, you can have some feathers, even on coated papers.
    · Nib Creep / “Crud”: No.
    · Staining (pen): It didn't stain my convertor. But I used it only for a week.
    · Clogging: No
    · Cleaning: It was fairly straightforward, like "normal" inks. However, long term I don't know.
    · Water resistance: Excellent
    · Availability: 45 ml bottles.

Please don't hesitate to share your experience, writing samples or any other comments. The more the merrier

Thanks, Yazeh! It's greener than I would have expected. I had heard that this doesn't behave so well - particularly with bleed-through. Very nice to see such a thorough review, and the comparison to the Artist version is a very nice touch. Sail away little ink, sail away...

Thanks for the review. I own this ink and have used it enough to know that it does bleed through and feather pretty bad. Wish it didn't because I'm always on the prowl for good perm/water resistant inks.

I took a couple of photos. It's a blue green.

Yeah. It's a pity. The Artist turquoise is even worse. I've never seen anything like that. And I use a lot of Noodler's inks

The deAtramentis have a bit of a problem on unfavorable paper, we already had that here in the light test (4 years). https://www.penexchange.de/forum_neu...t=2145#p274880 But it shows the enormous light resistance of such nano-pigment inks (with very few exceptions). For document authenticity according to the standard, there is also erasure resistance, ethanol resistance, hydrochloric acid resistance, ammonium hydroxide resistance, bleaching resistance and water resistance. And the nanos can do that.

They had the dokumentus checked according to the standard for document-proof ballpoint pens (there are none for document-proof fountain pen inks). You can transfer this to comparable inks.

De Atramentis Document Turquoise is a beautiful ink, perfect for adding a pop of color to my documents. Speaking of documents, it's important to be able to convert them into different formats like PDF for easy sharing and viewing. I find it super convenient to do this online using tools like https://pdfguru.com/ It saves me time and hassle! My experience of working with documents began to sparkle with new colors.

This review of Document Turquoise highlights a somewhat underwhelming experience with the ink, especially in comparison to its upcoming sibling, Artist Turquoise. The reviewer seems uncertain whether it's the ink’s color, behavior, or perhaps a general saturation from using too many inks that leaves them unimpressed. While acknowledging that it’s a decent document ink, they find it too wet when used with wide or wet nibs, and particularly slippery when used with fude (bent) nibs, comparing the experience to "flip-flops on ice."

Another drawback is the ink’s performance on cheap or absorbent paper, where it feathers and spreads, making it less suitable for lower-quality writing surfaces. The color is described as slightly lighter than the Artist Turquoise, and it doesn’t have as much wetness.

However, a positive note is the ability to mix Document and Artist inks, making this ink appealing for artists or those who enjoy customizing their ink colors. Additionally, the reviewer notes that Document inks are marginally more archival than the Artist series, according to their communication with the ink maker, De Atramentis.

Overall, while it may not excite the reviewer, Document Turquoise still offers some practical advantages, especially for those who value permanence and versatility in mixing inks.
