I've been wanting a Danitrio pen for a lonnnnggg time and today, I finally ordered one! A Danitrio Flat-top Mikado, clipless, Ao Roiro-Migaki (blue urushi), with a Fine nib. Also ordered Sailor Yama-Dori and a Taccia Pen Kimono to go with it. Nibs.com doesn't keep any Danitrio pens in stock so they have to special order it from Danitrio. I had them check with Danitrio to make sure it was in stock with the company, so it shouldn't take too long thankfully. I was told it would take around two weeks to receive it.

Lucky you. Being outside of the US has meant that both I and another enthusiast miss out every time these are offered for sale. The downside of distance I suppose.

Anyway, can't wait to see what you do with it with the Chivor loaded up!

Nice! I bought a Desiderata when they were first offered for sale. It was supposed to be Purpleheart and some other wood pen, but something messed up with the wood, and Pierre sent me two Daedalus pens instead. One made of green ripple ebonite, and one made of Delrin. Some inks don't flow as well as others with the Zebra G nib, but when you have an ink that does, it is heaven. It writes amazing. I don't think I've had one instance of railroading with Sailor inks so far. Noodler's and Iroshizuku worked okay too, but Sailor seems to flow best. It looks like Pierre has refined his threading. My green ripple Daedalus takes like 4 full rotations to uncap. Small inconvenience for an awesome pen though.

What would the price for this gorgeous pen be in UD Dollars. I'm going to get it, by the end of the year, provided that's it's not gone. I just want an idea of price. Thanx Sevenof

Turned from black ebonite and then coated with many layers of urushi lacquer. They can also come with elaborate Maki-e and Chinkin artwork. Comes in both round- and flat-top models. Either can be with or without clip. It's a massive pen! Here's a comparison of it with a Montblanc 149. It's made of ebonite and uses a eyedropper with safety shut-off valve as the filling system, so it's supposed to be pretty light for it's size. Hopefully nibs.com will have my pen soon, so they can ship it to me.

I have just bought a Parker fountain pen from an Australian selling site. The ad didnt give much information but the picture (which was not very good) showed a hooded nib. I purchased the pen for $35 AUD (about $20 USD) not knowing whether I was getting a 21 or a 51. I made a post on the Parker section of this website and got a few varying opinions. One said it was most likely a 21 whereas others including Mike Hosea thought it was a 51. Mike took some wonderful forensic photos and made a comparison and he was pretty sure it was a 51. I posted the seller a question and asked if she knew what type of Parker. I probably should have done that before buying it but thought she might withdraw it if she did some research. She told me it had Parker 51 on the barrel and although she hadnt used it the pen looks in good working order. Interestingly the pen was engraved "From the Norwich Football Club 1951" So I knew it was probably bought in the UK in 1951. After some research and the look of the pen I am expecting it is a Parker 51 Special. But I wont know for sure until it arrives in a few days time. It is my first Parker so I am a bit excited and interested to find out what it actually is. I am h oping it is a normal 51 Aero but would still be happy with a 51 Aero Special. My research indicates that the octanium steel nib of the Special writes the same as the 14 ct gold nib of the ordinary 51s but I suppose it is just a mental thing about the gold nib as I have found they all write pretty well the same. It has been a very rewarding learning experience trying to identify the pen from a photo and after doing a lot of research I kn ow much more about Parkers. Thanks to all the Parker section guys who helped in the ID process. Will keep you posted as to what it actually is when it arrives.

After 5 years of avoidance, I've FINALLY cracked: Lamy 2000, EF nib!

(I purchased the pencil, tried it for a day, intrigued, and then curiosity took over.)

I will be eager to hear what you think, because have always wanted to try an EF. I think I've had all the others.

I think the 2000 with fine nib is just a great pen for people who write a lot. I've heard other people say it, and I agree: it's a pen you really feel you could use the rest of your life.

I somehow find the EF nib very similar in its width to F nib on the Lamy 2000.

Portable Writer - Heki-tamenuri, .9mm CI. Its 2 weeks out as JM is on vacation.

I asked for a "forgiving" CI, but not sure whether I should call and re-specify to make sure it leans enough to CI as I'd like. :shrugs: My only experience with Italics is with the Pilot 1.0mm, which I found very forgiving, and having needed only a little adaptation for everyday use. Where does the Pilot 1.0 lean in the scale from smooth > sharp?

As for correcting a grind, I would hazard a guess that you can go from CI to stub, but not the other way without loosing width. Correct?

My favorite factory pen. Alas, it spoiled me for most other, much more expensive pens.
