I'm waiting on a Pelikan M800 Brown Tortoise!
Roefisher (December 1st, 2013)
I got one of these Pelikans myself last month. I hope you love it as much as I do mine.
Wanting to match in with the general character of the pen, mine started out writing with Visconti Sepia and this weekend, after seeing Stephen's video on the Opera Crystal, I went for Edelstein Amber. The shading with this ink is just incredible and it has a lovely warm colour too. I'm a bit slow off the blocks for this year but it has a really cosy, earthy look for an Autumn combination.
But back to the topic - enjoy your M800!

Thank you! Which nib size do you have?
I like your ink choices for the brown tortoise. I'm torn between Iroshizuku Yama-guri and Diamine Ancient Copper for the first fill. Or maybe Noodler's Walnut. I hadn't considered Edelstein Amber but it sounds like a great combination.
Mine came with a Medium nib but I also swap it around with a Fine I have from my demonstrator. It's a fantastic writer with both
There are so many inks to choose from it's nearly impossible, isn't it! I haven't tried the Diamine Ancient Copper or Iroshizuku Yama-Guri so I've just had a quick search and they both look great - nice ideas! Another similar colour I have tried, but not in this pen, is the Iroshizuku Tsukushi and it is another rich brown with a slightly reddish shade. Decisions, decisions...
But whichever ink you choose, it'll still be a great writer. All the very best with it!

Nothing at the moment - I'm behaving myself during a month of budget blowout hiatus.
I kill my spare time by playing with my wish list for 2014, shuffling and sorting them in order of priority, checking prices and reading relevant reviews, etc. I'm reasonably hopeful that I'll survive this period of 'good behaviour bond', provided that some powerful enablers don't track me down.

I'm waiting for my birthday present from my honey--a Pelikan 1000 green & black BBB.
Much Love--

"What are moon-letters?" asked the hobbit full of excitement. He loved maps, as I have told you before; and he also loved runes and letters, and cunning handwriting, though when he wrote himself it was a bit thin and spidery.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the bright blue idea. The pen arrived yesterday and as I was looking through my inks, trying to decide, I almost went with Diamine Turquoise, but I already have a bunch of pens inked with various blues right now. I filled it with Noodler's Walnut instead. It is an excellent writer.

Waiting for a couple of extra Pilot Metropolitans, a Pilot Stargazer, and an Edison Nouveau Encore from the Goulets. Spent the budget, time to hunker down to rice and beans for dinner.
Awaiting my first Montblanc. A 420 from about 1972.
