Writingrav - seems like you have a "cursed pen" not matter what is done it will always be a problem - a replacement could be the best solution.

A vintage pen, only cost me about 4 pounds on eBay. No idea what it is as it didn't say, although its black and looks a bit like a Parker to me. Will be fun to have a look at it in the flesh!

I broke my "no more pens" vow again… and now I'm waiting for a black Omas MOMA with gold trim and a medium/broad nib.

I have been waiting 14 months for my Waterman Ink-Vue to come home. Special tools had to be built to resac it. I think I will only have to wait one more month.

Bogon and all. I have to report that after hand tightening the section on to the barrel, I mean really turning and finding I could move it a couple of revolutions until it finally stopped I have written with it for two straight days with no ink seeping onto my fingers. Why it didn't come like that I don't know. Why it didn't come back that way I don't know. But be warned. If your Classic leaks tighten the section and if you disassemble the pen be very careful putting it back together.

My proclamations of "no new pens right now" have cost me so much more money, it seems, than just not making any such proclamation. What is up with that, anyway? I just dropped a small fortune. It is a compulsion.

I recently bought an Ink-Vue and I'm going to make those two tools myself and do the restoration. It isn't like you're building an Atlas Seven missile to the moon. Then again, I haven't actually done it, so we shall see - let's be sure to put photos up of the finished restorations!

Waiting on two shipments: the first is a couple of NOS, no-name German piston fillers that are contemporary with the first of the Pelikan piston pens, very late 1930's. Some restoration to do, mostly with the age, but look to be very nice examples:

And as of yesterday, managed to win a nice-looking Moore set. I have a current fascination on Moore's...

I cannot do any advanced restoration work myself at the moment due to the state of construction of my domicile. I bought this one with plans to write an essay about keyhole nibs. I will be posting pics to compare this with two other keyhole nib pens. I agree it is not like an Atlas rocket, but it does require precision and a lot of care. They were not built with restoration in mind.

Indeed - and I'm indebted to Richard Binder's page on Ink-Vue restoration to guide me. Not something I set out to find, but it popped up in a very odd assortment on an auction, and I thought "that pen looks familiar" and felt it was an important addition to my gathering.

The one thing I don't think I can make much of is the nib, which appears to have taken quite a drop, point down. If you know of any good sources of keyhold nibs, please PM me. I'm going to be doing a bit of hunting at the LA Pen Show in a few days.

I hope you will have good luck finding a nib. These pens are not common, many having likely been thrown away a long time ago. It will be nice to see another example of a working one.

Yep, sounds familiar. I dared not to make such vows and resorted to strict budgets, and look how well that turned out - I'm half way through my March budget and shamelessly consider myself having exercised some real self-control.

I got the Amber one. For $20 shipped, I just couldn't hold off any longer. Even if I just fondle and stare at it, it should be worth it. I may even get lucky and find out it writes well!
