    I'm waiting for
    - Leonardo Officina Italiana Momento Zero Positano Blue since end of may <sigh>. The guys at La Couronne de Comte are desperately waiting for a delivery from italy. They described it as "communication from Leonardo is a little slowl."
    - Montblanc 221 (should arrive this week)

Default Re: What Pens(s) Are You Waiting For?

At present I'm waiting for a Pilot Kakuno (clear), a Waterman Phileas Kultur in lurid pink, and three pre-order Conklins: One of the rainbow crescent fill limited editions, one of the abalone/rose gold Enduras, and one of the red Courage pens. All of the Conklins are from Pen Chalet. Of course I want them all yesterdayyyyyyy! But then, I always want pens as soon as I see a picture, so this is not unusual.

Update: the Kakuno and the Waterman have arrived. I thought the Waterman might be interesting (as well as inexpensive), and it has more than lived up to the interesting part. I don't mean that in a bad way. It's far less shiny than the photo, and it looks very plastic. That said, the intact package (blister pack) indicated that it is "soft", whatever that means. A "soft" nib seems to be what it means, and I'll find that out in time. I figure despite the very plastic appearance, it can't be a bad pen. The package also indicated it was made in Switzerland. I have a soft spot for pens made in the German-speaking countries and Scandinavian countries because my very limited experience indicates that they are invariably well-made. I feel the same way about pens made in Japan. And of course I think that most vintage pens were well made, at least once they are restored (if restorations are needed). That's not to say that pens made elsewhere are poorly made. I simply don't have any experience with Italian or French, or Spanish, or Chinese, or Russian, or... So many pens, so little time!

And thinking about "So many pens", suddenly I'm wishing I had any musical talent whatsoever. It would be huge fun to rewrite the Disco anthem "So many men" as "So many pens" and perform it at a future pen show/convention. Alas, it won't be me in that performance. I can't carry a tune in a bucket with two handles. I'm so musically impaired that the one time I tried singing in the shower my cat came racing in and started "singing along". After that, I had no more doubts.

    Three fountain pens right now:

    • Edison Pearlette (EF)- was supposed to be here Monday, but it seems to have been misrouted through Chicago. It may arrive tomorrow.
    • Parker 51 Aero, burgundy - ordered from Mainstreet Pens. The most expensive P51 I have purchased, but I anticipate it being in gorgeous shape.*
    • Aurora Duo Cart, light blue - sale today at Atlas Stationers put this pen almost 25% lower than the usual price everywhere. I have been wanting one for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger.

I also have a NOS stainless steel Jotter ballpoint coming. Don't know the age yet - I am going to guess 1990s. I gave my previous one to my dad and have been jonesing to replace it.*

    PENBBS-456
    Purchased it a week ago.
    7 more weeks to go...

Stupid thing is...once it gets here I'll have to send it directly off to a nib-meister for another 3-4 months to be modded into a flex-pen.
Almost a whole bloody year lost for one stupid pen.

This Eversharp Symphony (seller just listed it as an Eversharp pen), which I'm not sure of the generation (1,2,3), but snagged it because the tip looks pretty thick.

MB 149 calligraphy, so who knows when it will arrive. It’s been 3 1/2 months already. Before the year is out?

He's shipping it with the nib and feed already knocked out for me since it is my intention to install my Wahl #2 Semi-flex needlepoint into it and put the firmer more standard Wahl No.2 nib into my smaller metal Wahl 421A.

I'm also getting some gifts in the same package :

    A Red (Celluloid) Swan Leverless

And a second tier branded pen with an amazing looking celluloid pattern.
And still waiting on these about 5 months later.

It's been really stressful at work. And I stress-buy pens. So: I have a Pilot Falcon with extra-fine nib (black/rhodium), a Parker Sonnet Jubilaums Fougere--the black one with the white guilloche/fougere cap, a Faber-Castell Loom in piano black, a Pelikan M150 in black/grey, and a Manuscript in ivory all headed my way. And the Conklin Endura Abalone with rose gold trim that is pre-ordered. I just finished looking over, re-sorting and photographing all my pens. I really don't need any more pens. Like that matters. It was good to see what I have and to maybe figure out a more definite direction to take with collecting. Or maybe my direction is "all".

Waiting on word of my PenBBS-456 returning to me from the Honeybadger NibMeister.
It's getting a handmade custom flex nib matched to it's Ebonite Feed...it feels like it's been gone so long.
    I miss it so...
This Noodlers Ahab is a pale (fragrant) replacement.

    Had one successful trade prior.

Waiting for another Noodler's Boston Safety Pen. I decided I could use a chestnut as well as the black that I already had. These pens seem to be out of stock everywhere, but I found one last one at Vanness in Arkansas. I got emails for order confirmed and preshipping, but I won't believe it until it's at least left the warehouse. I'm also waiting for the ink that I plan to use in it, which is Noodler's Whalers. I think Whalers is a good match with the chestnut.

I won't say the Noodler's Boston is better than my Montblanc 20 or my Parker 75, but I like writing with it just as much. The ebonite is also a refreshing aesthetic instead of the usual plastics or cheap brass you see so much of. I also like the smell.

Waiting for three Edison Colliers - the limited editions Metallurgy and Smoke on the Water, and the Pearlised Juniper.

Like London buses, you wait for ages and then three come along at once!

Ebonite pens can be eyedroppered, yes?
If I'm not using a metal pen, I prefer demonstrators...but I think I would like an Ebonite pen for my collection.
    Wait...did I just say collection???

    Oh no...it's happened!

When it comes to conversion to eyedropper-filler, it's not a question of a pen being made of ebonite/hard rubber, but rather what the existing filling system is. For example, a lever-filler pen made of ebonite cannot be made into an eyedropper because of the hole in the side of the barrel to accommodate the lever assembly. On the other hand, an acrylic cartridge/converter (or ebonite or metal or celluloid) pen can typically be made an eyedropper with a smear of sealant on the barrel's threads, because the barrel has no opening in its side. Examples are modern Edison and Franklin-Christoph cartridge/converter pens, which are easily made into eyedroppers.
