Hope eachan will be planting more sunflowers for the birds this Spring.

Your penfriend, and always wishing you both All the Best.
Thank you, Jim. I'm glad you are still enjoying your Swans. Not sunflowers this year; African Marigolds, Red sage and Lavender. If you want more British vintage I can highly recommend Mr Rose of http://www.writetime.co.uk/index.htm

The fact that you've done a public post means a great deal. You've hinted as much, and I'm sorry to know that it connects with physical issues. Still, making a clean break can be an affirming move. You've helped so many and you have such a light sweet touch in your writing, so I think we all hope that you'll blend your knowledge with your writing style and continue in the pen world, just not from the workbench and online sales arena.

Any more than that, I'll write to you personally. I'm sure I am not alone in wishing you and Eachan the very best of the days ahead in your new interests. A new dawn for you both.
There's still more to come, Jon, though in written form. Are you still on holiday? Best wishes either way!

I'm sorry to hear this, Deb. Although I have stopped buying fountain pens, having already bought about two dozen Parker 51s, about a dozen or so P-61s, and many others -- thises and thats -- that did not become my favorites, I have always looked through your site to think "well, maybe one more and how about another British pen?" I am now work-retired, and it is hard to ignore my wife's tapping foot, as she would say, "Yet another fountain pen?" But your site was always tempting.

Further, it was always good to know that someone was busy finding and reconditioning British pens.

    Good look in your writing!

Thank you for all these years of work and love for pens, Deb. I bought a pen from you years ago. And I have read a lot of times your blog, smiling with that subtle british humor.

Though we haven't done business and I haven't been very active here, I know you are one of our most respected pen folk on FPG. My sympathies on the arthritis (which is not a stranger to me or my contemporaries), but I'm glad you're going to stay engaged with pens and am looking forward to following your blog.

Many thanks. Retirement had to come sometime! Though the business is over I haven't given up working on pens completely. I got cortisone injections in my hands last week so I'm back to fixing Swans - for myself, this time. I have quite a few pens of my own but few are Swans. I need to change that!
