Default Dominant Industry Milky Way Blue and Diamine Iridesink Philip

An IG posting with Diamine Philip inspired me to order a couple of bottles from Cult Pens.

Diamine Philip is almost a sapphire color, and darker and more saturated than Milky Way Blue. Diamine Philip's gold sheen seems a bit more pronounced than DI Milky Way Blue's reddish sheen.

The flatbed scan didn't really capture what I saw while writing, so I took a picture of the sample in sunlight with my phone. It does a little better showing gold sheen in the vertical lines at the end of the sentence.

The Milky Way ink looked really good, popped off the page.

I am looking at the image on an iPad, I thought Phillip looked a little ordinary at first to be honest but the shading really became apparent when enlarged, two very interesting inks, thanks for posting.

Thanks for the comparison, Bob! Phillip looks downright purple to my eyes.

YW Rob, the Milky Way seems brighter to me and I like it more than the Philip.

    YW, LizEF, it sure does.

When I was filling the pen with Diamine Philip, the side of the bottle looked really purple, almost sapphire.

Now I'll have to find some Purple Martins to draw with it.

Thank you for the comparison review.

I don't have Dominant Industry Milky Way but have seen reviews for it and if it looks slightly purple from the side of the bottle I might call it a "blurple" as sapphire inks, in my humble opinion, usually tend to look more blue than purple. Maybe it's a blue sheening purple?

Cult Pens (Diamine) Iridescink Philip is for sure a sheening and saturated purple. I have that one and like it.

    YW, Chrissy.

I misspoke. Diamine Iridescink Philip (not DI Milky Way Blue) looks slightly purple from the side of the bottle.

Here's another sample of Iridescink Philip that better captures its gold sheen.

Characters written with the nib inverted look better with the darker Iridescent Philip.

Overall, I like DI Milky Way Blue better.

Nice comparison. I prefer the Milky Way, by a long shot!
Now, I'm looking forward to see some reviews with some Saturn drawings

Thanks, Yazeh. I prefer the [DI} Milky Way Blue, too.

Now that Saturn is up during the morning, I'll be making some sketches of Saturn.

    Thanks, @yazeh.

In homage to Manny the dog's and my sojourn to Observatory Park (dark sky site) last night, I filled the now-empty pen with Milky Way Blue.

As I flushed the pen, the residual of Diamine Philip in the sink was definitely purple.

Bob your image showing the gold shimmer in Diamine Philip is much better than the ones I tried to take to show that when I reviewed it.

I really like the name of the blue ink "Milky Way Blue". Plus nice shading. Maybe I should consider trying out a Dominant Industry ink sometime.

Thanks, Chrissy, I made that picture in cloudy bright" light shining in from a west-facing window that afternoon. The shimmer is barely discernible under incandescent light.

An INCOWRIMO pen wrote me a letter with Milky Way Blue, which her s.o. gave her.

Grateful to her for broadening my horizons about an ink brand I'd not heard of before that.

The name Milky Way Blue is appropriate in view of its shading.
