    Default A rare Waterman

Rare in that I rarely buy a Waterman. To be honest it is a rather boring black only saved by the rings on the section breaking up the monotony.

Wow ! That does seem to be very uncommon. I’ve never seen one like it , and the nib looks like someone’s shoehorned a dip nib into it …except that it appears to have Waterman on it !!
    I’d say …hang onto it !!

…puts hand up to take it off your hands , should you lose interest in it 😎👍🏻

What is imprinted on the barrel? Are the imprints clear enough to read?

I have never seen this surface. Is it kind of a chasing (guilloche)?

    Looks great btw!

Hi, if you screenshot the pic / 'copy to photos' , then edit / tip it upside down and zoom in, you can make out nearly all the words 😊
Also, I have heaps of saved catalogs from very early in the waterman story, most with page after page of pen pics …..
I’ve scoured the whole lot and not seen one like this one 🤔🤔🤷

Smooth black hard rubber 14. The texture on the section and barrel is cut grooves.

I’ll go look at the imprint believe it just had the 1884 dates.

Yep, you're right. That worked well. Thanks!
    And, yes, it is 1884.
The nib looks like it has been "stacked" up on top of another...........

I think it might be a variation on the (below) period style of dip nibs, with the area crimped/stamped with an indentation (for strength? dunno):

    "When Men differ in Opinion, both Sides ought equally to have the Advantage of being heard by the Publick;
and that when Truth and Error have fair Play, the former is always an overmatch for the latter."

That would be the nib but 14K and Waterman.

Thank you. so the longitudinal stripes in the photo must be reflections. Nice pen anyway.
