The LAMY 2000 got (and still gets) a lot of attention. It is kind of the design flagship of LAMY. But his inventor, the Designer Gerd A. Muller was also responisble for other pioneering designs. For example the LAMY cp1. «CP» stands for: «cylindric pen». The goal of this design was most probably, to compete with Auroras Hastil, designed by Marco Zanuso in 1970.

The cp1 came in 1974 on the market. First as ball point pen and mechanical pencil:

And in 1977 as a fountain pen, which is a masterpiece of engineering. It was originally designed to compete with the slimmest pens, or even to be the slimmest fountain pen ever. LAMY even developped a new cartridge (T10) for this pen. The diamter of the early cp1 is equal with a common pencil.

Over the last few years I have tried to collect information and different models of the cp1. This table reflects the result. So I have not reached the goal yet, but still….

So, the very first LAMY cp1 fountain pen was the (slim) model 50 in brushed steel:

The second variant was the model 58 in mat black (the surface is called titanium oxyd)

after these two came the models 53 in sterlingsilver and 57 in white lacquer.

In 1983 (date not yet confirmed) the pen was completely redesigned. The new model was thicker and longer. Feeder and nib were adopted from the Safari. here is a comparison of the models 50 and 59:

The models before 1983 were delivered with a thin squeeze converter. Modern converters do not fit:

And recently, I was able to catch a model 55 and 155 (mechanical pencil). Both are coated with a very attractive metallic paint.

Thanks for sharing. I really love the CP1 it always works. Understated yet elegant and the black one also really ages wel (develops a nice patina).

Judging on your list the only version I'm missing is the white one (the slim version before the 1983 design change).

Since you have an almost complete collection, I would be interested in hearing if the table/list is complete or if there are other models/variants, I don't know yet.

btw: the slim white model is extremely rare. I only found one once on the internet (still searching the link...)

Your list seems to be complete. I tried to come up with a list with all CP1 models (including fountain pens, ballpoints, twin pens etc...). I am not aware of any other models than the ones you mentioned.
I only know of a few coloured ones (Green, Blue, Red, Purple and Silver) that were made for Mercedes but they were not regular production models afaik.

I have two of the white CP1s, one with the logo on the usual side of the clip, the other with the logo printed on the "wrong" side of the clip.

I wonder if this is an official variant, or if they simply corrected a design "mistake" by updating it to be consistent with other Lamy pens.
