Hello from Edinburgh
Hi Everyone,
I'm David and I work in IT for several clients in Edinburgh, France and Asia. Apart from fountain pens, I also enjoy wristwatches, reading, learning Dutch and journaling in my trusty TN and TR notebooks.
I've used fountain pens for many years but have only recently rekindled my interest. Below is a recent photo of my collection, although it's already out of date, since I've added a Kaweco 2021 in Olive and two more Safaris. You know how it is.
In the shot are the following with current inks:
Sailor 1911 Pro Gear - F - Sailor Jentle Black
Lamy 2000 - F - Diamine Oxford Blue
Lamy Safari Green - 1.1 Stub - Diamine Oxblood
Lamy Safari Umbra - F - De Atramentis Fog Grey Issak Newton
TWSBI Go - F - Diamine Red Dragon
TWSBI Go - 1.1 Stub Diamine Meadow
TWSBI Micarata - F - Uninked
TSBI Eco Black - F - Akkermans’ Delfts Blauw
TSBI Eco Purple - F - Diamine Bilberry
TSBI Eco Pink - EF - Diamine Imperial Purple
Opus 88 Demonstrator - F - Diamine Oxford Blue
Kaweco Sport Black - F - Diamine Wild Strawberry
Not in shot are:
Lamy Safari Purple - M - Diamine Majestic Blue
Lamy Safari Umbra - M - Diamine Writer's Blood
Kaweco Sport Olive - M - R&K Alt Goldgrün
As you can see I usually prefer a fine nib but am not averse to a medium. I've had the Micarta and the Sailor for many years but my newer pens, especially the 2K get far more use now. When restarting my interest, initially I felt that I'd purchase more TWSBI Goes as my test pens but I found the ability to change nibs on the Safaris to be really useful for ink and paper testing. I prefer the way they write too. They are all fitted with converters, so are very quick to re-ink with a syringe.
If forced to name my favourite pen and ink, I would have to say the Lamy 2000 - closely followed by the Opus 88- and the ink is Diamine Oxford Blue - closely followed by Majestic Blue. On the horizon could be a second Lamy 2000 in Medium, a Vanishing Point or, if the stars align, possibly a Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age. Like many of us I'm sure, I also have a collection of other pens, including Parker Jotters, Fisher Space Pens and EDC titanium bolt pens.
I hope to meet some of you and enjoy the discussions in the threads on here or on Reddit.
Cheers,
David
David
