Question Pens you didn't buy, then wished you did?

A certain UK dealer once had a matching numbered pair of differently engraved silver plate Lambrou pens which were vgc and fairly price and went unsold for a good few months... like some other missed opportunities now passed, i regret not making the effort to justify and facilitate acquiring them; my only excuse being that i would've had to buy both in order not to split the set.

not discounting the effects of rampant retail inflation in recent years, have others memories of examples they wanted but never attained?

    Nice thread 👍🏻

I have a bit of a thing for Mentmore 'Spot' pens ….and there was this one I’d never even heard of ..The Regal Spot ..all gold, that came up on the bay.
I really really wanted it so badly , so I put an eye watering bid on ( for me) on it , which got blown out of the water by some very high rollers !!!
Ever since, I’ve kicked myself for not getting a second mortgage on the house and just going for it.IMG_7191.jpgIMG_7192.jpg

That Regal Spot is one handsome pen, wow.

I have a mini regret not getting the Montblanc Egyptomania (the black one, not the Doue version which somehow isn't that attractive to me) when they were still available pre-jacked-up price that people are asking for today.

I used to regret not buying the Montblanc POA Copernicus when it was available at issue price rather than the price they achieve today. I spotted one on ebay for £1700 and it has a stuck piston. Wow.
My other regret was not buying a WE Christie but that was issued at a time when I didn't really collect pens at all..

The one that got away for me was the Montblanc Tolstoy. Sigh...

The Sailor KOP Realo Anniversary pen that came with the Naginata-Togi nib. Or the Conid Antwerp bulkfiller.

The green striated 146 Max made for the Koeln pen show 10 years ago. I held it. I thought hard about it. I now wish I bought it.

I recall Richard Binder talking about how hard it was to sell the Pilot M90 when it was a current model.

also there was a cool newish Conklin with chasing and sterling furniture I should have bought from Tim Girdler back in '12.

    that's about it I think.
