    Cool The Art Blakey Trio

With a (better) glass dip pen this time, on Kokuyo Kampus Krazy Paper™️. (See all those holes)?

Again, it's tough to see the color differences, especially between the first two inks. The third scans a little darker. But all three are muted, murky, non-bright greens.

This comparison took a little longer. Like all day. I did one sketch first, then went away for other stuff, then did the other sketch, etc.

Frankly I've been inspired by the ink-splorations of LizEf and Yazeh. So thanks to both! And also to Jon Szanto for practically handing me the thread title.

I should use my Montblanc inks more often.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

And my latest ebook, for spooky wintery reading:

I must have missed it... what's Blakey got to do with it? Did he play in any trios?🎶

    It's my fault.

Ok. AFAIK, Blakey never played in (released any recordings from) a trio.

Quite MCM, too. Hey, thanks for the sampling of R&K AG, I keep meaning to pick up a bottle of that.

Most welcome. I think Alt Goldgrün needs a thick wet nib; otherwise it's stingy and reluctant.

I caught Blakey's group of young lions du jour back around 1987 in NYC. Of course, they were phenomenal.

He played in a trio a little with Horace Silver and Randy Weston but any time he backed a piano solo might be considered a trio.

I don't get the Art Blakey connection but that's OK. 😅

Follow the link in post #3. Just a little fun, riffing on a concept...

"Riffing on a Concept" could be a good name for a jazz tune.

Aha. Alas, I don't think Red Garland and Clifford Brown ever collaborated.
