Default M1000 EF Nib too wet

I just bought a new M1000 with EF nib. Has anybody had similar experience of a wet nib as I am experiencing. Is this 'normal' for this type of nib?

In my rather limited experience the answer is yes. You should use a very light hand while writing and try to use dry inks like Pelikan 4001 or most IG inks. The use of good paper helps.

I have gone through all 3 nib types: M, F and EF and sadly returned the pen to the seller. Way too wet for my liking and every day writing was impractical. I liked the size and looks of the pen though.

It was a regular flex nib, so wetter than the normal semi-nail 400/600 or the nail 800.
And all Pelikan pens are wet, being designed for a dry ink.
Like Waterman made a thin nib because they made a for then, a wet ink.

I got the xf ni nib for this very reason. I knew the others would be entirely too wet and thick.

I like it but my other Pelikans are easier to use.

I've just written a sentence with my 1000 (last years model) and it is wet. It's much drier with Pelikan's own ink in it. I'm using MD paper if that's any help
