Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Noodler's Kiowa Pecan
This is review #257 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:
Post-recording notes: This is a very nice brown. Cleaning was a royal pain: I had to use a swab inside the cartridge and on the back of the nib, I used a brush on the feed, but there was no reaching all the parts of the section where the ink was stuck, so it's in the ultrasonic cleaner - with the feed for good measure... And, round 1 followed by a rinse got most of it out. Still waiting on round 2. Am also still waiting for the review paper to dry so I can scan it... Round 2 did the trick!(The ink is still not dry.)
The microscope slide was boring as can be, but did show some particles like pigment, even if it's not pigment. Said particles are grey and clung to the slide. I had to wipe them off (used dish soap to help release them, but I don't think it was necessary, just wanted to reduce micro-scratches).
NOTE: This ink was renamed to just "Pecan". Advertised as partially bulletproof, forgery resistant.
Errata: "When Makhabes ..." should have an "h" at the end of his name!
Zoomed in photo (Color is very close.)
Screenshot (Color is close, perhaps a little dark.)
Scan of Completed Review (Text is a little lighter than real life, but still quite close.)
Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (Colors are off in ways I don't know how to describe - too saturated and red?)
Line width (The "I" in "Ink:" Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100µm. The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each. The line width for this ink is roughly 296µm. With 257 inks measured, the average line width is 295µm.)
