I thought that this was interesting to read this with hindsight and also liked the pictures.

The suggested end state of a pen that never runs out of ink would put the ink manufacturers out of business, so I do not see their incentive to develop one.

As long as you remember that many of the events in the story are simply apocryphal it's not too bad. I remember reading that when it first came out.
