Default EFNIR: Pilot Mixable Colour Green

Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Pilot Mixable Colour Green

This is review #268 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: As with the last one of these I reviewed, the cartridge was a little low so I topped it off with distilled water. I don't believe that will impact performance or color in any noticeable way.

The ink is a green green with a very slight yellow lean. I have nothing like it. My other greens are more blue, more yellow, and/or more murky. Therefore, I compared to some common greens to give an idea where it fits... The microscope slide was as boring as could be.

Cleaning was quick and easy with plain water.

Zoomed in photo (The text is too dark. Needs some yellow for brightness, but fairly is close.)

Screenshot (Text is a little too dark.)

Scan of Completed Review (This is the closest to what my eyes see.)

Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (This pretty much matches what my eyes see.)

Line width (The "I" in "Ink:". Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100m. The scale is 330m, with eleven divisions of 30m each. The line width for this ink is roughly 313m. With 268 inks measured, the average line width is 296m.) (This must be a very opaque ink - even to my eyes, the line was much darker than without the scope.)

    Previous Review: Noodler's X-Feather Blue.

Another excellent review for an undeserving ink (That's the kind of green I can't stand)
I was agreeably surprised by the storyline, and wondering if the Viscount E would resurrect Marsell as a surrogate skeleton son

Thanks for making our Tuesdays so memorable

Yay, Tuesday. And I love green ink!

Of your samples, I have Diamine Meadow, which is more sunlight-through-spring-leaves. But I have a question: Pilot green inksI've got the regular Pilot green cartridges, and they seem more blue-ish. But I also have some of Parallel Pen carts. Could either of those be the same or similar to Mixable Green?

We are moving along like lightning to the next storyline! Many thanks, Liz, for the reviews and the series.

My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Thank you! Sorry to put you through an unliked color (or colour).

Glad to have surprised you! (You're usually three steps ahead of me.) There's no telling what may happen on the isle of Diaminnia! (Whether we ever learn about it is a whole other question!)

This is a fairly happy green, close to the bright spring green I like, but not quite close enough that I would buy a bunch of it.

The "Mixable Colour" inks are the Pilot Parallel pen inks. This one is just named "Green" (there's also a Light-green).

Didn't want to do another travelogue. On my website, this is the first episode in "Part 6: The Voyage Home".

Then I do have at least one cart of this color. Huzzah!

For once, I'm ahead of the Tuesday game, but only because it's my mother's birthday so I had to remember the day (and remember to call her).

Thank you for an unexpected review! I was surprised to see another Pilot mixable popping up so soon, but this is not one I'm going to be bothering with, despite having a couple of carts lurking in the drawer of shame. I'm also not a fan of this particular shade of green - I love zingy springy greens, burnt out yellow summer greens, lush salady greens and above all olivey and murky greens, but really don't like the Irish green, pine, or emerald parts of the greeniverse. Which is curious for someone who loves the natural world and plant life as much as I do.

I'm glad it was decently behaved for you at least - the worst inks are the ones that don't work in terms of colour and then behave horribly as well.

I'm glad to see our intrepid adventurers heading home. I have a sneaking suspicion that the journey may not be as easy as they might like, though...

Bless you for elevating another dreary winter Tuesday

You're very welcome! I'm fitting the Pilot Mixable Colour in as fast as I can use up the cartridges because they're showing signs of evaporation. When I'm done with these, I'll examine other cartridges to see how they're doing - all the rest are newer than these. I'm with you on the shades of green - this one is close to a "zingy springy green", but doesn't quite make it all the way there. Not enough yellow, I think.

Yes, this one did better than most - I didn't even try to dilute the remains. Eternal dry times were the worst part of it.
