    Default Chinese Pelikan clones

    It had to happen sooner or later. Looking thru the AliExpress site I came across these piston-filled Pelikan M800 clones, in Pelikan M620 similar colors:

    pelikan_clones_tray.jpg

    This is the Pelikan M620 Shangai clone:

    Shangai_clone.jpg

    And here is the Pelikan M620 Berlin clone:

    Berlin_clone.jpg

    These pens are piston filled and use Schmidt nibs except, for some reason, the black model that has a Bock option. The full name of these pens is: New ADMOK M800 Acrylic Piston Fountain Pen BOCK/Schmidt Soft Smooth No.6/35# Nib Inking Pelikan Copy Students Writing Gift Pen.

    I can see it now: Soon we will have a barrage of new posters asking... Is my Pelikan real?

    If I did not have too many fountain pens already, I would buy one. But then, I have seven Pelikans, ranging from a 140 to an 800NN to a couple of 600s. These clones look nice. The Wing Sung Parker 51 Vac "semi clones" are good, except for the nib.

    If these Pelikan clones are decent writers, maybe they can be intro fountain pens for people who have grown up with throw-away ballpoints and who are not ready to spend $100 on a fountain pen. A "gateway" to fountain pen obsession?

    I have four of them. Two are inked, one with a fine nib and the other with a medium. These use German nibs. I like them quite a lot. They work great and look great. I do have a sizable flock of Pelikans from 200s through to m1000. I like the Pelikans better but I do not get them for $50 dollars. I'm thinking of getting more while I can.

    UPDATE on the Pelikan clone situation...

    Looking around Etsy I found another Pelikan clone: the St Penpps Admok 400 Fountain Pen, which is basically a Pelikan M400 sized Chinese piston filler. The #5 nib options are "normal" (whatever that is) and Schmidt in EF/F/M sizes. Sadly, no ink window although some models appear to be translucent.

    Well geez y'all, I have a Hong Dian N12 pen (pictured elsewhere in this forum) that's a piston filler and now it also looks to me a lot like a Pelikan 600 or 800! My only (liked well enough) Pelikan is an M200, so I thought of my N12 as a generic Italian imitation rather than a Pelikan clone, until what I'm seeing now in this thread?
    I should mention that IME the Hong Dian N12 is an excellent FP for $28; -it fills cleanly and well, and instantly writes a nice smooth F line whenever I pick it up. Also these Chinese clones look to me like they might all be made in the same factory? The Hong Dian N12 piston for instance has almost the same clip, bandings and colors (and lack of an ink window) as the Admok ones shown in this thread. ~So I wouldn't be at all surprised if the cheaper $28 Hong Dian N12 pens sold on Amazon weren't basically the same pens as these Admoks, but under a different name?

    ~Chinese clones of those more expensive Pelikans that I pretty much can't afford? ~Hmmmm...... {??}
    (-Sorry Germany , but this looks like fun to me!)

    It is more expensive than many Chinese pens but what level of material and elaboration technical detail is involved in the manufacture of the pen?
