Here's a thought. The guy who pays the bills to keep this entity in existence seems to be independently wealthy. Although he appears to have some affiliation with the Andersons, it's more ancillary, perhaps even voluntary. He doesn't have a "job," as far as I can tell. People with that sort of freedom typically don't see things as the rest of us do.

I suspect it tickles his funny bone that Jon is so righteously enraged because the guy won't do things the way he would. Continuing comments about him not "taking care" of this entity surely tickle his psyche,

Imagine the power in knowing you could flip a switch and end this whole thing in an instant. I've suggested before that he's playing God. This, I suspect, is just one of his little toys.

Getting rid of automated spambot accounts is administration, not moderation. I am not, nor have I ever, asked for or desired any moderating of content on this site, outside of dealing with any actual threatening posts. As to going somewhere else, that would assume that the cohort of correspondents would be the same on another forum, and that isn't the case. Many of the people who used to post here that I valued, for their content and their spirit, have given up but they haven't magically reconvened somewhere else.

In the context of a forum such as this one and the other place, I think the distinction between administration and moderation is far more gray than the simple black & white rubric you suggest.
I think a better distinction is site owner vs. those who are managing the day to day operations.
