Default What makes a 51 custom a Custom?

    Hi all

Just seen a couple of 51's on the Bay listed as Customs.

There is no mention of a "Custom" version on the usual 51 info sites so what makes these two customs.

And with English made 51's normally selling for little more than £30 and often quite a bit less, are these prices realistic for a Genuine custom if they existed

Just wondering as I have one in my box that's a bit of a mix of both these pens, it has the same cap and domed end barrel of one of them and the thin gold clutch ring of the other, could mine be another varient of the custom theme if they actually existed that is.

    Thanks

    Paul

Custom is the word they use for one of the cap designs. Gold Filled, with four alternating lines, sold in a set. Those caps are the "Custom" caps indeed, you can see the lines grouped in fours. It doesn't mean better or anything, they were all nice. The four caps were called Heirloom, Heritage, Custom and Sterling. Looks like those are going for about us$125 and that is a little high for my tastes. I paid less than that for my 1942 coin silver vac filler and it is also in perfect shape and much rarer, but things could be different in the UK as opposed to the US.
